CODING AND BILLING MANAGER-CERTIFIED CODER
Position Description: The employee in this full-time position (40-50 hours per week) is responsible for overseeing the coders, as well as coding and data entry for office and surgical charges as needed. This employee reports directly to CEO and Corporate Board of Directors.
Qualifications:
Certifications:
  • Certified Professional Coder Certificate. (AAPC-Preferred) - Must have at least 5 years experience.
  • Orthopedic Office and Surgical Coding Experience
  • Previous Management Experience
  • Must have Medical Billing Experience.
  • Experience with Epic a plus.
Skills:
  • This employee must have knowledge of CPT and ICD-10 codes.
  • Knowledge of health information technology as well as medical terminology, data analysis and coding systems.
  • Must be able to code from an operative report.
  • Educated on E amp; M Coding Guidelines
Job Duties:
  • Inform physicians and CEO of coding/billing operational and educational issues.
  • Supervise all coding/billing personnel, including maintaining adequate staffing levels for volume of work.
  • On-Board, train and manage coding/billing staff.
  • Prepare annual staff evaluations and 60-day reviews.
  • Monitor Various Dashboards within Epic- Coding/Billing Work Ques.
  • Assist and educate coding/billing staff with their job duties.
  • Run weekly reports of all surgery charges for the physician to sign off on before filing.
  • Audit E amp; M and Surgical Coding of Charges.
  • Update Physicians and staff with coding changes.
  • Acts as a liaison between patients and physicians.
  • Maintains positive professional rapport between patients, hospitals, and hospital departments.
  • Any other job duties that might be requested by the doctors or management to help the office run efficiently.
Physical/Mental Requirements:
  • Varied activities including sitting, standing, walking for varied amounts of time.
  • Occasional stress from daily workload.
  • Must be able to use a variety of office equipment including phone, copy/fax machine and PC.
