Job description

Toolcraft Machining, Inc. is seeking a CMM Programmer / Quality Engineer to join our 1st shift team, at our facility in Germantown, WI. The ideal candidate for this role will be a hands-on, technically strong individual who will provide support to our precision contract machining operations serving defense, aerospace, and industrial customers. The CMM Programmer / Quality Engineer is responsible for developing and maintaining CMM programs and performing inspections of complex precision-machined components using PC-DMIS software. This role ensures compliance with customer requirements, ISO 9001:2015 standards, ITAR regulations, and internal Quality Management System procedures. Working closely with Manufacturing Engineering, CAMP Programming, and Production teams, the CMM Programmer / Quality Engineer supports quality assurance activities throughout the manufacturing process.


Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop, program, and operate Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) using PC-DMIS software for complex, tight-tolerance components while meeting demanding production schedules.
  • Analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve dimensional nonconformances identified during inspection activities to ensure adherence to engineering specifications and quality standards.
  • Take ownership of the quality process for assigned jobs, including first article, in-process, and final inspections.
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineers, CAM Programmers, and machinists to establish and optimize effective inspection methods and plans.
  • Perform manual dimensional inspections using precision measuring instruments including micrometers, calipers, thread gauges, and related equipment.
  • Record and document inspection data accurately within inspection reports and quality records.
  • Prepare and complete FAIR (First Article Inspection Reports) and PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) documentation as required.
  • Conduct incoming inspections including dimensional verification and certification review of purchased materials and components.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable quality standards, procedures, and regulatory requirements.


Preferred Job Qualifications:

  • Experience using CAD software (Solidworks)
  • Experience using ERP Software (JobBOSS/Unipoint)
  • Experience using CAM Software (Mastercam)
  • Experience working within regulated environments including ITAR, DFARS, and CMMC (data protection, export control, and documentation control)


Minimum Job Qualifications:

  • 2-5 yearsโ€™ experience in CMM programming from 3D models for complex parts using PC-DMIS.
  • 2-5 years' experience in an inspection-related role (ex. CMM operator, quality technician or CNC Machinist)
  • Strong GD&T knowledge (ASME Y14.5)
  • Proficiency using Microsoft365

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent
