PROJECT MANAGER - HEAVY-HIGHWAY / CIVIL CONSTRUCTION

Position Summary
Responsible for managing materials, equipment, and labor for day-to-day activities to ensure timely and cost-effective completion of heavy-highway and civil construction projects. Works closely with subcontractors, suppliers, and project partners to deliver projects in compliance with contract documents and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Assume overall responsibility for project profitability
- Prepare and maintain the master project schedule; update as necessary
- Ensure project completion in compliance with project documents and quality standards
- Determine the most cost-effective use of construction methods, personnel, materials, and equipment
- Coordinate construction activities with owners, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams
- Manage contracts, pay requests, change orders, RFIs, and ASIs with owners/engineers
- Create and manage subcontracts and purchase orders; coordinate scopes of work
- Review shop drawings/submittals for compliance with specifications
- Prepare monthly work-in-progress reports; recommend actions on overruns
- Generate and submit pay applications and change proposals; prepare change orders
- Assist estimating activities as needed
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (preferred) or equivalent experience
- Minimum 3 years of heavy-civil construction experience required
- Heavy-civil experience in one or more of the following: water and wastewater treatment, bridge, highway, grading, drainage, utilities, concrete, paving
- Ability to meet deadlines with attention to detail; strong interpersonal skills
- Professional written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to read and interpret drawings
- Proficiency with scheduling software (MS Project, or similar) and Microsoft Office
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with federal, state, and local government agencies
Work Environment / Travel
Based in Southwest Missouri with travel to project sites as needed; work is performed in both office and field environments.
