Junior CFO - Global Hedge Fund (New York)

Manhattan, NY • On-site

Full-time

Posted 8 days ago

Job description

Our client is an established New York-based hedge fund with an exceptional reputation for performance. The firm combines sophisticated institutional infrastructure with the collaborative, entrepreneurial environment of a much smaller investment platform.

They are looking to hire a Junior CFO to work directly alongside senior leadership and take broad ownership across the finance function. This is a hands-on role spanning fund accounting, financial control, tax, regulatory reporting, valuation, and management company matters, offering significantly more breadth than you'll typically find within a larger hedge fund.

What makes the opportunity particularly compelling is the path to CFO. They are looking for someone who has already built strong technical foundations within hedge fund finance and is ready to make the jump from being a #2 to eventually owning the function. For the right person, there is a genuine and defined opportunity to progress into the CFO seat.

You'll take ownership across the fund accounting process, work closely with external administrators, auditors and tax advisors, and partner with teams across the investment and operational sides of the business. You'll also have the autonomy to improve processes and infrastructure and become a key financial partner to senior leadership. The underlying position is deliberately hands-on, including P&L and valuation oversight, month-end processes, and management of external providers.

Who this suits

  • CPA with 10-15+ years of hedge fund finance experience
  • Deep, hands-on fund accounting experience within a hedge fund environment
  • Experience with Advent Geneva strongly preferred
  • An ambitious individual contributor who is ready for significantly broader ownership and ultimately wants to become a CFO

This is a rare opportunity for someone who has spent their career building deep expertise within hedge fund finance but hasn't yet been given the opportunity to own the entire function. You'll join a lean, high-performing investment firm, work directly with senior leadership, and have a genuine runway to become CFO.

For someone looking to make the jump from #2 in finance to CFO, this is a standout opportunity.
