Job description

Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced CAD Designer - Closures (Sheet Metal) with 10 to 15 years of OEM-level automotive design experience. The ideal candidate should possess strong expertise in designing and developing closure sheet metal components - including doors, hoods, liftgates, and fenders - using CATIA V5/V6 (3DX). Candidates with strong Upper Body design experience in lieu of direct Closures background will also be considered. The candidate will be responsible for taking components from concept through production while ensuring compliance with safety, manufacturing, cost, quality, and performance requirements.
This is an immediate-need, onsite contract position based in Auburn Hills, MI, requiring 5 days per week in office. Candidates must be authorized to work in the USA.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or related field.
  • 10-15 years of OEM-level experience in automotive Closures sheet metal design (or equivalent Upper Body design experience).
  • Strong hands-on experience with CATIA V5/V6 (3DX).
  • Experience working with global automotive OEMs or Tier-1 suppliers.
  • Excellent understanding of closures/sheet metal manufacturing processes and vehicle integration.
  • Strong knowledge of the automotive development lifecycle from concept to production.
  • Experience in supplier coordination and engineering change management.
