Position Description: Provide hands-on Aviation Test Engineering support to the Aviation Mission Systems and Architecture Project Office, Technical Management Division (TMD). This role is highly focused on supporting the execution of Test & Evaluation (T&E), risk reduction events, and Experiments/Demonstrations to verify and validate system performance, airworthiness, safety, and mission readiness for rotary-wing aviation platforms. Interface daily with military, civilian, test range, and contractor personnel in a dynamic, execution-oriented team environment.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Support multiple projects' test programs, developing strategies, contract language, witnessing test events, interfacing with contractors and laboratories, conducting risk reduction events and performing other support as needed.
  • Provide on-site technical support for the planning and execution of aviation test events, including Software Integration Lab (SIL), flight, ground, environmental, and survivability testing.
  • Lead and participate in Integrated Product Teams (IPTs), Test Readiness Reviews (TRRs), and system design reviews.
  • Contribute to the development, review, and maintenance of test documentation, providing input for test plans, flight test cards, Test and Evaluation Master Plan (TEMP), and similar documentation.
  • Collaborate with flight test crews, instrumentation engineers, and maintenance teams to ensure safe, compliant test execution.
  • Assist in generating technical reports, findings, and conclusions based on empirical test data to support critical Milestone Decisions (e.g., LRIP, FRP, and sustainment upgrades).
  • Support Airworthiness Qualification and Army flight release processes by providing engineering review and verification of lab and flight test results.
  • Help identify technical risks, safety hazards, and program vulnerabilities during test execution, contributing to the development of mitigation strategies to protect schedule, budget, and personnel.
  • Support company growth as directed

Required Qualifications:
  • Degree in Engineering, Mathematics, or a similar technical field.
  • Hands-on experience developing, supporting, and manage execution of aviation test events (flight, ground, SIL, or component level).
  • Knowledgeable of the airworthiness process in regards to avionics component software, hardware and of aircraft system qualification.
  • Experience applying systems engineering processes to support the active assessment and verification of system requirements during live and lab-based testing.
  • Knowledge and experience in systems engineering with the ability to collaborate with senior-level staff at CPE Aviation, Engineering Directorate, and sister Project Offices to help resolve test anomalies.
  • Ability to support multiple test events simultaneously and work effectively in dynamic, high-pressure test environments.
  • Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Above average knowledge of Microsoft Programs, to include, but not limited to Outlook, SharePoint, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel

Desired Qualifications:
  • Experience supporting or monitoring MIL-STD-810 environmental testing and Electromagnetic Environmental Effects (E3) testing.
  • Experience supporting airworthiness certification or FAA civil aviation authority processes.
  • Experience working in an Army acquisition Program Office, acquisition policies and precedents, program goals and objectives, and work processes.

Clearance Requirements: Candidate must have an Secret security clearance. Per federal requirements, only U.S. citizens are eligible for this level of clearance.
