What is a Contract Bible Church Pastor?

A Contract Bible Church Pastor is a clergy member hired by a Bible church on a contractual basis, rather than as a permanent or full-time staff member. Their responsibilities typically include preaching, teaching, providing pastoral care, and leading worship services according to the needs outlined in their contract. Contract pastors may serve for a specified period or to fill a temporary vacancy. They are expected to uphold the church's doctrinal beliefs and support its mission. This arrangement provides flexibility for both the pastor and the church.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Contract Bible Church Pastor?

To thrive as a Contract Bible Church Pastor, you need a solid theological education, pastoral experience, and typically a degree in divinity or theology. Familiarity with church management software, online communication platforms, and sometimes denominational certification is often required. Exceptional interpersonal skills, compassion, and the ability to inspire and lead a diverse congregation are vital soft skills. These qualifications and qualities are essential to effectively guide spiritual growth, manage church operations, and foster a supportive community.

Job description

CHRIST CHURCH OF THE VALLEY, CASHIERS, NC
Cashiers, NC, is a scenic, affluent mountain village in the Blue Ridge Mountains known for its high elevation, lush forests, numerous waterfalls, and upscale lifestyle, offering outdoor activities like hiking, fishing, and golfing amidst luxury homes and diverse dining, while serving as a popular tourist destination in Jackson county.
Our church family is a small, friendly, C&MA affiliated congregation located in this area with highly seasonal attendance patterns. Our greatest pastoral leadership need is for a pastor who is consistently present, available, and engaged in the daily life of the church and community.
Education Level: Education is flexible. A Bible college or seminary degree is preferred, but we are open to candidates whose training comes through other solid ministry preparation.
Experience: Local church ministry - Five years minimum as a senior pastor. We would also consider those with mission's experience with a recognized mission's agency.
C&MA accreditation and license required. If the pastor has not already been ordained with the C&MA, they will be required to complete their ordination process in the first two years.
Any candidate should demonstrate the ability to shepherd people well, speak well, teach Scripture faithfully, disciple the congregation, have an ability to connect with and reach meaningfully into community, reaching the unreached and unengaged and to teach the church to do likewise.
