Job description

Position Summary

The Audio Visual (AV) Technician is responsible for the installation, configuration, testing, troubleshooting, and maintenance of audio visual systems in commercial and data center environments. This role installs AV equipment including displays, projectors, video conferencing systems, speakers, microphones, control systems, and supporting infrastructure while ensuring systems meet customer specifications and industry standards.

Key Responsibilities

Install and configure audio visual equipment including displays, projectors, LED video walls, speakers, microphones, amplifiers, DSPs, control panels, and video conferencing systems.

Pull, terminate, label, and test low-voltage cabling including CAT5e, CAT6, CAT6A, HDMI, fiber optic, coaxial, speaker wire, and control cabling.

Install equipment racks, AV hardware, mounts, display brackets, cable management systems, and supporting infrastructure.

Read and interpret blueprints, AV system drawings, wiring diagrams, rack elevations, and installation documentation.

Perform equipment programming, basic system configuration, firmware updates, and functional testing.

Troubleshoot audio, video, network, and control system issues to ensure optimal system performance.

Assist with commissioning, system startup, and customer acceptance testing.

Label all equipment and cabling according to project standards and maintain accurate as-built documentation.

Coordinate with project managers, network teams, electricians, and other trades to complete projects on schedule.

Maintain a clean and organized work area while following customer security and safety requirements.

Comply with OSHA regulations, company safety policies, and customer site procedures.

Required Qualifications

High school diploma or GED preferred.

Experience installing or supporting commercial AV, low-voltage, structured cabling, or telecommunications systems.

Basic understanding of audio visual technologies, signal flow, and IP networking.

Ability to read construction drawings, wiring diagrams, and installation documentation.

Experience using hand tools, power tools, testing equipment, and cable termination tools.

Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

Reliable transportation and dependable attendance.

Ability to pass customer-required background checks and drug screenings.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with commercial AV integration projects.

Familiarity with AV platforms such as Crestron, Extron, Q-SYS, Biamp, Cisco, Logitech, Microsoft Teams Rooms, or Zoom Rooms.

CTS (Certified Technology Specialist) certification preferred.

OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.

BICSI Installer certification or equivalent low-voltage experience.
