Position: Java Full Stack Developer – Banking Experience (Ex-Capital One)

Location: McLean, Virginia

Duration: Long-Term Contract
Note: Looking for Ex-Capital One Employee / Contractor

Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled Java Full Stack Developer with solid experience in the Banking domain, especially candidates who have previously worked at Capital One or similar top-tier financial institutions. The ideal candidate will develop and maintain scalable web applications that support key banking operations, ensuring high performance and reliability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain full stack web applications using Java, Spring Boot, Angular/React.
  • Collaborate with business analysts, product owners, and technical teams to gather requirements and deliver high-quality solutions.
  • Build and maintain RESTful APIs and backend services for data integration.
  • Develop responsive front-end interfaces using Angular or React.
  • Troubleshoot, debug, and optimize applications to meet performance and security standards.
  • Implement CI/CD pipelines and maintain code versioning practices.
  • Participate in Agile development methodologies (Scrum/Kanban).
  • Ensure compliance with banking industry regulations and data security best practices.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Proven experience as a Java Full Stack Developer in the Banking / Financial Services industry.
  • Prior experience working at Capital One, JP Morgan, or other major financial institutions is highly desirable.
  • Strong proficiency in Java, Spring Boot, RESTful APIs.
  • Front-end development using Angular or React.
  • Experience with relational databases such as Oracle or MySQL.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitLab CI, etc.).
  • Strong knowledge of Agile development practices.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience working in Capital One, JP Morgan, Wells Fargo, or other large financial institutions.
  • Knowledge of Banking-specific applications and processes.
  • Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure).
