Job description

College of Theology - GCU Recording Studio Assistant (FWS)

Grand Canyon University is seeking a GCU Recording Studio Assistant to support the mission of Grand Canyon University through GCU's College of Theology and the Worship Arts Recording Studio.

Position Summary/Purpose:

The purpose of GCU Recording Studio Assistant is to support the mission of Grand Canyon University through the Worship Arts Recording Studio within the College of Theology (COT) and to support the management of the Center for Worship Arts Recording Studio facility by assisting the Recording Studio Manager in all activities related to the GCU Recording Studio.

Primary Responsibilities/Accountabilities/Essential Functions:

  • Oversee and maintain Center for Worship Arts (Recording Studio) facilities.
  • Monitor and maintain GCU Recording Lab facilities.
  • Maintain schedules and calendars for all Studio spaces.
  • Support and serve students and guests using Center for Worship Arts (Recording Studio) facilities and the GCU Recording Lab facilities.
  • Participate in the coordination efforts for various studio events and Worship Arts events that take place throughout the academic year.
  • Participate in content creation efforts related to the Worship Arts Program and its social media platforms.
  • Effectively communicate with clients of the recording studio through appropriate media such as in-person, telephone, email, text, and social media platforms.
  • Administrate, maintain, and ensure adherence to studio and rehearsal room schedules.
  • Ensure adherence to Recording Studio Manual policies and procedures.
  • Interact with other departments such as AV, IT, Public Safety, and the Copy Center to accomplish related tasks.
  • Provide directions to visitors and students.
  • Maintain Office/Conference Room supplies.
  • Ensure all areas and rooms within the Center for Worship Arts (Recording Studio) facilities are kept neat, clean, organized, and secure.
  • Ensure proper use and protection of equipment within the Center for Worship Arts (Recording Studio) facilities.
  • Work with students to assist in training of facility's equipment and resources.
  • Conduct ad hoc tours of the GCU Recording Studio Facility.
  • Other tasks as requested by Studio Manager and Senior Staff.

Equipment Used and Responsibility:

  • MS Outlook-Coordinate, Update, and Maintain Calendars and Schedules to ensure studio productivity and continued smooth operation
  • MS 365 Suite - Create/Update Word Documents, PowerPoint Presentations, Excel Spreadsheets
  • MS Teams-- Effectively collaborate with other team members on studio projects including studio engineering, social media efforts, and event coordination.
  • Social Media Platforms-Hootsuite, Instagram, Facebook-Effectively communicate through these platforms to maintain the Center for Worship Arts social media community.
  • Recording Equipment-Digital Audio Workstations, Microphones, and related studio gear-properly handle, deploy, and operate studio equipment in a safe and effective manner.

Qualifications:

  • College of Theology/College of Arts and Media students preferred (Worship Arts majors or minors; Commercial Music majors or minors strongly preferred).
  • Must be willing to work some late evenings and/or Saturdays.
  • Must have friendly and efficient disposition.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Proficiency for using multiple communication technologies in appropriate ways.
  • Some audiovisual technical production experience preferred.
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office applications, primarily Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Some aptitude for creating fliers and announcements is considered a plus.
  • Effective professional use of social media platforms is strongly considered.
  • Effective video content creation strongly considered.
  • Friendly phone and customer service skills preferred.
  • Able to focus on a single task, manage multiple tasks, and prioritize many tasks.
  • Self-motivated with effective time-management skills.
  • Comfortable interacting with local pastors, students majoring in other programs, and recording industry professionals while embracing the Christian worldview.

Experience/Education:

Grand Canyon University is committed to a student first policy. Therefore, all applicants must meet the following eligibility requirements to be considered for student employment:

  • Enrolled at GCU as a full-time student in a Bachelor's program or Master's program.
  • Retain a 2.0 GPA as a Bachelor level student or a 3.0 GPA as a Master level student.
  • Maintain good financial and academic (SAP) standing with the University.

You may be subject to termination if you fall below the minimum requirements.

Pay Rate: Minimum Wage

Anticipated End Date: June 30, 2027
