Job description

Project Description 

The Emory Precision Public Health Research Program, led by Dr. Yue Guan, is seeking two Graduate Research Assistants (GRAs) to support a scoping review for the project titled “A Scoping Review of Cancer Registry-Based Outreach for Cancer Prevention and Control.” This project is funded by the Emory Winship Cancer Institute.

This scoping review will map the landscape of cancer registry-based outreach interventions for cancer prevention and control. It will examine the engagement strategies cancer registries use to reach cancer survivors and their at-risk relatives and identify facilitators and barriers to effective engagement. Findings will inform the design of scalable, registry-based outreach programs targeting populations at increased risk for hereditary cancer.

GRAs will contribute to multiple stages of the scoping review, including title and abstract screening, full-text review, and data extraction.


Job Responsibilities

The GRA’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

·      Screening titles, abstracts, and full-text articles against pre-defined eligibility criteria, and resolving discrepancies with a second reviewer

·      Extracting and charting data from included studies

·      Attending regular research team meetings and providing updates on review progress

·      Assisting with synthesis of findings, development of summary tables and the PRISMA-ScR flow diagram, and drafting sections of the manuscript


Required Qualifications

·      Strong written and oral English communication skills, with strong attention to detail and accuracy

·      Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and maintain well-organized documentation


Preferred Qualifications

·      1st or 2nd year RSPH MPH student

·      Experience in scoping review/systematic review

·      Experience with literature screening or reference management platforms such as Covidence


Work Schedule

·      Up to 5 hours per week

·      Fall 2026

·      Apply awareness of cultural values and practices to the design or implementation of public health programs,

·      Communicate audience-appropriate public health content, both in writing and through oral presentation

·      Perform effectively on interprofessional teams
