About this PositionWe are seeking a highly skilled AVP, Lead Assistant General Counsel, Internet Compliance Attorney to join our Legal team. This mid- to senior-level role is responsible for leading internet and social media compliance efforts across the organization. The ideal candidate will bring strong legal expertise, leadership capabilities, and experience navigating regulatory environments related to digital communications.
This role oversees a team of compliance analysts, provides strategic legal guidance on online content, and ensures adherence to evolving regulatory requirements while protecting the company's reputation.
The salary range for this role is $120k - $135k.
This role is not eligible for sponsorship.Responsibilities & Qualifications

Key Responsibilities

Legal Advisory & Risk Management

  • Serve as the subject matter expert on internet and social media compliance, providing legal guidance to business partners and senior leadership
  • Assess regulatory, reputational, and operational risks related to online and digital content
  • Respond to regulatory inquiries and support investigations related to social media activity
  • Interpret evolving laws and regulations and translate them into actionable business guidance

Team Leadership & Development

  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of Internet Compliance Analysts
  • Assign and prioritize workload, ensuring timely and accurate completion of reviews and investigations
  • Conduct regular performance coaching, quality reviews, and skills development
  • Foster a high-performing, collaborative, and accountability-driven team environment

Policy Ownership & Compliance Strategy

  • Own and maintain social media compliance policies and procedures
  • Communicate policy updates and provide training to internal stakeholders and field representatives
  • Partner cross-functionally to ensure consistent application of compliance standards
  • Deliver webinars and training programs to educate stakeholders on compliance expectations

Vendor & Stakeholder Management

  • Act as the primary liaison for compliance technology vendors and surveillance tools
  • Monitor vendor performance and ensure proper data flow and issue escalation
  • Collaborate with internal teams to enhance tools, systems, and compliance processes
  • Support vendor contract discussions and ongoing relationship management

Investigations & Case Management

  • Lead high-risk investigations involving senior representatives and complex compliance issues
  • Perform detailed analysis of digital content, determine risk levels, and recommend actions
  • Escalate critical matters to senior leadership and oversee resolution
  • Maintain detailed documentation of investigations and outcomes

Special Projects & Continuous Improvement

  • Lead ad hoc projects and compliance initiatives for executive leadership
  • Develop innovative solutions to address emerging risks and business needs
  • Stay current on industry regulations and contribute to organizational knowledge-sharing

Qualifications

Required Education & Credentials

  • Juris Doctor Degree from an accredited law school
  • Active license to practice law in the appropriate jurisdiction

Required Experience

  • 4-5+ years of legal experience, preferably in compliance or regulatory environments
  • Experience with digital communications, social media monitoring, and online content review
  • Demonstrated leadership or supervisory experience managing teams and complex workloads

Licenses & Certifications

  • FINRA licenses (SIE, Series 6, 26, and 63) required within 180 days of hire
