Marketing Generalist


The Bow Valley Regional Transit Services Commission (BVRTSC) provides public transit to both visitors and residents looking to enjoy the Bow Valley without the use of a private vehicle. Our team members make an impact in our communities every day. They constantly work towards being responsive to our customers, by embracing technology and reacting quickly to transit issues, trends, and solutions.

Reporting to the Manager, Communications & Customer Experience, you create and coordinate Roam's digital content and marketing initiatives. You ensure community vision and values; Commission priorities and communication goals are embraced. In this position, you assist with the planning, development, implementation and monitoring of internal and external communications, marketing, and public engagement functions of Roam.


Position Summary

  • Coordinate, create, and edit all marketing and design content including signage, videos, and social media content
  • Assist with the planning and development of strategic marketing and communications plans to ensure brand goals are met
  • Provide effective media relations support to the Manager, Communications and Customer Experience
  • Coordinate and execute various marketing campaigns according to deadlines while ensuring uniformity of content/messaging.
  • Ensure all digital & print content is consistent and aligns with Roam brand standards
  • Edit and coordinate Roam internal newsletters, emails, and other communications as required
  • Coordinate and create video content for internal and external use
  • Responsible for day-to-day editing/maintenance of website content in conjunction with the Director of Service Delivery, ensuring updates are providing appropriate and relevant content
  • Source and manage external services relating to online and print communications and use your creative abilities to analyze and improve offers
  • Coordinate and execute social media campaigns and ensure alignment with overall marketing campaign and brand strategies
  • Manage social media calendar and post valuable, shareable content regularly
  • Assist with the development of strategic marketing plans to ensure that content aligns with modern design and culture trends and adheres to brand standards
  • Assists with coordination of Roam's photography needs
  • Work collaboratively with all departments to create and carry out internal and external projects
  • Assist in organizing external stakeholder and public facing events
  • Assists Customer Service Supervisor in tracking and resolving customer inquiries and issues through social media and other external sites
  • Provide courteous and positive public relations with internal and external customers
  • Other duties or projects as required

This position requires a very organized, multi-tasking individual who can work independently to market a growing organization with the goal of increasing transit ridership. Someone who is a self-starter and can work in both an individual and team environment would be a great fit for this role.


Qualifications


Education (minimum)

  • Post-Secondary Degree in marketing, communications or a related discipline is an asset. A combination of education plus work experience will also be considered.

Experience


  • Minimum two (2) years' experience working in marketing, communications, and/or digital content
  • Experience working within a demanding, fast-paced environment
  • Intermediate Graphic Design experience with Adobe Illustrator and InDesign
  • Video creation/editing skills considered an asset
  • Experience with WordPress considered an asset
  • Public transit, transportation or tourism experience considered an asset
  • Experience in interacting with the public, both transit riders and non-user stakeholders
  • Experience working with social media trends and technologies

Knowledge, skills, and abilities


  • Exceptional computer skills - fluent in Microsoft Office applications, digital design applications, social media applications, and Project Management tools such as Asana
  • Knowledgeable in production and maintenance of web pages and applications/tools
  • Excellent proof-reading skills, as it relates to grammar, spelling, punctuation, and accuracy within any written correspondence and advertising
  • Self-Starter with excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Must be able to multitask to achieve deadlines and meet the needs of multiple stakeholders
  • Ability to work independently or in a team environment
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
