This is a highly people-focused role at the heart of a global open-source community, where your work directly shapes how contributors, users, and enthusiasts feel connected, supported, and recognized. You will help bring a vibrant ecosystem to life across digital channels, events, and real-world meetups, ensuring the community remains active, welcoming, and engaging. The role blends storytelling, social media, and hands-on community engagement, with a strong emphasis on building meaningful relationships and amplifying contributor impact. You will work closely with the Community Manager and broader team to identify stories worth sharing, support online spaces like Discord, and help coordinate events and recognition programs. The environment is collaborative, mission-driven, and deeply rooted in open-source values, offering the opportunity to contribute to projects used by millions of people worldwide. This role is ideal for someone who is energized by community interaction, enjoys creating content that resonates, and takes pride in making people feel seen and valued.

Accountabilities:
  • Create and share compelling community stories, including contributor spotlights, project highlights, and personal journeys that showcase the impact of the ecosystem.
  • Actively engage in and support the community's Discord presence by welcoming members, facilitating discussions, organizing events such as AMAs or watch parties, and helping maintain a positive and inclusive environment.
  • Manage and grow social media channels in collaboration with marketing stakeholders, ensuring content is authentic, engaging, and reflective of the community's voice.
  • Support the planning and execution of online and in-person events, including conferences, meetups, and industry appearances, with involvement in logistics, communications, and post-event content.
  • Contribute to contributor recognition initiatives, including swag coordination, ensuring contributors are acknowledged in meaningful and timely ways.
  • Capture and repurpose community content such as videos, event recaps, and tutorials to further amplify engagement and storytelling efforts.
  • Work closely with moderators and cross-functional teams to ensure community spaces remain healthy, active, and aligned with organizational values.
Requirements
  • 2-3 years of experience in community management, social media, communications, content creation, or a closely related role.
  • Hands-on experience managing or actively participating in Discord communities, including moderation, engagement, or community building.
  • Proven ability to manage social media accounts with real engagement and audience interaction, beyond vanity metrics.
  • Experience supporting or organizing events, including logistics, coordination, or on-the-ground execution.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-moving, community-driven environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Basic video editing experience is a strong plus.
  • Must be based in Europe and eligible to work in the region.
  • Familiarity with open-source communities, smart home technologies, or Home Assistant is a plus.
Benefits
  • Fully remote role with flexible working hours and global collaboration.
  • Competitive salary aligned with regional market benchmarks.
  • 25 days of paid time off annually.
  • 14 days of paid sick leave (depending on local regulations).
  • Home office equipment budget provided upon joining, with equipment ownership after three years.
  • Internet cost reimbursement of 50% for your home workspace.
  • One dedicated personal project day every two weeks.
