Director of Multiplatform Content

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The Director of Multiplatform Content is a senior newsroom leader responsible for creating, developing, and executing content strategies across FOX21's digital, streaming, social, and broadcast platforms. This role serves as a key driver of audience growth and content innovation, ensuring FOX21 delivers compelling local journalism and content wherever viewers choose to consume it.

This position combines content leadership with hands-on storytelling, serving as a content creator, on-air talent, and architect of original programming for FOX21+ and other emerging platforms. The Director of Multiplatform Content works closely with the news director,digital EP, and producersto identify opportunities for audience engagement, develop new content initiatives, and expand FOX21's reach beyond traditional television newscasts.

  • Lead content strategy and programming development for the FOX21+ streaming platforms
  • Develop and produce original streaming content that grows audiences and expands FOX21's digital presence
  • Identify and create streaming-exclusive programs, special reports, and innovative storytelling opportunities
  • Inspire and encourage all employees to get involved with original content via our vMix streaming studio
  • Serve as a multimedia journalist by reporting, writing, shooting, editing, and producing original content for broadcast, streaming, digital, and social platforms.
  • Develop enterprise stories and feature content that highlight Southern Colorado's people, communities, and issues.
  • Create content optimized for multiplatform distribution and audience engagement.
  • Anchor the weekday FOX21+ 4:30-5:00 p.m. newscast from the streaming studio for linear broadcast.
  • Produce and host original streaming seriesof your choice based on your passions and interests.
  • Serve as a newsroom leader in multiplatform storytelling and digital content strategy.
  • Collaborate across departments to develop new content initiatives, special projects, and community partnerships.
  • Champion innovative storytelling techniques and emerging digital trends that strengthen audience engagement.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of three years of experience in digital journalism, newsroom operations, newsroom management, or a related field preferred
  • Experience with vMix or OBS streaming system preferred
  • Strong news judgment and the ability to work quickly in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills with a solid understanding of AP Style
  • Ability to independently research, verify information, and produce accurate news content
  • Comfortable balancing multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively across newsroom teams
  • Willingness to learn new technologies and adapt to evolving newsroom workflows

Compensation Range
Annual Salary: $70,000+ depending on experience
