Job description

We are a global digital agency comprised of strategists, creatives, media experts, data scientists, and engineers driven by one common purpose - accelerate business growth through marketing and digital transformation. Named a top 3% Google Premier Partner and recognized by Inc. 5000 and Adweek's 75 Fastest Growing Companies, we're constantly looking for "A" players to join our team.
The rapid growth is attributed to our strongest asset - our people. Our teams are highly collaborative and work closely with each client to set clear goals and objectives so that we can deliver exceptional results. Mindgruve is a place where every opinion is valued. Not only will you be empowered to contribute ideas, but you will also play a key role in the execution and driving success for brands across a variety of industries. Sound fun? Perfect - you'll fit right in.
As the Senior Director of Content Marketing, you will serve as a primary client advisor, helping brands build integrated content strategies that boost visibility, deepen customer loyalty, and drive measurable revenue. You will help clients rethink content strategy for the modern era, ensuring stories perform seamlessly across both human audiences and AI powered discovery platforms such as generative AI, answer engines, and search. Combining editorial leadership, AI driven operations, and deep digital strategy, you will guide executive client relationships in a dynamic, high impact role while leading a hands on team of content producers executing day to day.
What You'll Do Here:
Strategic Communications Leadership
  • Act as the lead content strategist across key client relationships, advising CMOs, Chief Brand Officers, and marketing executives on leveraging content to accelerate growth and performance.
  • Partner with agency teams from inception so content strategy shapes campaign foundations rather than being developed as an executional afterthought.
  • Build integrated content strategies aligned directly with brand positioning, communications, creative, media, CRM, commerce, and customer experience.
  • Lead executive workshops focused on audience research, core messaging, editorial planning, customer journey mapping, and content governance.

Integrated Campaign Strategy
  • Architect expansive content infrastructures designed to support the complete lifecycle of the customer journey.
  • Craft comprehensive messaging architectures, editorial plans, and multi-channel content roadmaps that define brand narrative.
  • Direct integrated content initiatives across all primary marketing levers, including paid, earned, owned, and social platforms.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams in Creative, Media, and Analytics to maintain narrative cohesion across every brand interaction.
  • Transition client models from intermittent campaign assets toward sustainable, high-value content ecosystems that fuel business performance.

Client Leadership
  • Build trusted relationships with senior client stakeholders and executive marketing leaders.
  • Present strategic recommendations with confidence, executive presence, and business acumen.
  • Facilitate strategic planning sessions, messaging workshops, and annual content planning engagements.
  • Identify opportunities to expand content marketing capabilities across existing client relationships.
  • Support agency growth through integrated planning, thought leadership, and new business pursuits.

Creative & Editorial Leadership
  • Lead development of compelling brand narratives across integrated marketing campaigns and customer experiences.
  • Write and edit high-impact content including thought leadership, executive messaging, campaign messaging, website copy, long-form editorial, product storytelling, video scripts, and integrated brand content.
  • Maintain exceptional editorial standards while ensuring every piece of content reflects each client's voice, positioning, and business objectives.
  • Inspire multidisciplinary teams by elevating both the creative quality and strategic impact of content.

Agency Integration
  • Champion collaboration across every agency discipline.
  • Educate internal teams on the strategic value of communications within integrated marketing.
  • Help account teams identify where communications can create additional client value.
  • Contribute communications expertise to integrated planning sessions and new business opportunities.

Growth & Innovation
  • Support agency business development through strategic communications leadership.
  • Participate in pitches, workshops, and executive presentations.
  • Develop new communications offerings aligned with emerging trends in AI, creator marketing, reputation management, and integrated media.
  • Help evolve Mindgruve's communications practice as a strategic differentiator.
We Need a Person With:
  • 12+ years of experience leading integrated content marketing, brand storytelling, or content strategy within a large integrated marketing agency, global holding company agency, or management consultancy.
  • Demonstrated success serving as a strategic advisor to senior brand marketers for leading consumer brands.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills with a portfolio demonstrating both strategic thinking and creative excellence.
  • Deep understanding of integrated marketing and how content supports brand strategy, communications, media, social, CRM, commerce, customer experience, and demand generation.
  • Experience developing scalable content ecosystems rather than campaign-by-campaign execution.
  • Strong understanding of modern digital discoverability, including SEO, GEO, and AEO best practices.
  • Demonstrated understanding of how AI is transforming consumer discovery and the evolving relationship between content, search, and brand experience.
  • Experience leveraging enterprise AI platforms to improve content strategy, research, ideation, production, optimization, governance, and workflow automation.
  • Familiarity with AI and content intelligence platforms such as ChatGPT Enterprise, Claude, Gemini, Writer, Jasper, MarketMuse, Clearscope, Semrush, Ahrefs, or comparable enterprise solutions.
  • Outstanding executive communication, presentation, and facilitation skills with the ability to influence senior client stakeholders.
  • Experience collaborating across Strategy, Creative, Communications, Media, Analytics, Technology, UX, and Data Science teams.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a passion for innovation and helping clients navigate the future of content marketing.

Compensation:
  • Salary: $150,000 - $175,000 (Pay range is based on a market reference point and potential job offers may vary based on the skills, education, experience and geographic location of the individual candidate. The compensation range reflects base rate only.)

Compensation will be commensurate with experience. Additionally, for eligible full-time employees, we offer a competitive benefits package including medical insurance, dental insurance, and vision insurance; a flexible spending account; voluntary life and accident plans; and a 401(k) retirement plan with matching. We have six office locations in the US: San Diego, California, Los Angeles, California, Covington, Kentucky, Denver, Colorado, Nashville, Tennessee and Charleston, South Carolina. We're seeking local candidates (or those open to relocation) who are able to work collaboratively with us in one of our office's; however, based on business needs and unique job functions, some roles may be eligible for remote work. (Bonus points if you're bilingual in Spanish and/or Portuguese.)
