Job description

Shag Driver / Yard Driver (2nd Shift)
The Shag Driver is responsible for the safe and efficient movement of trailers, containers, and equipment within the facility yard . You will drive a Kalmar Ottowa T2 4x2 and follow yard tasks on what trailers to move on a handheld device. Plus opening/closing trailers, cutting seals, putting up and down landing gear, and chalking wheels etc.
PAY RATE: 25.00hr
POSITION: Seasonal
SHIFT: 2nd shift 1:00pm - 10:00pm
LOCATION: Fort Worth, TX 76052
What do you need:

  • Extensive experience driving a commercial tractor or yard truck is required
  • What you will drive: This site uses a yard truck - Kalmar Ottowa T2 4x2. (You will only move trailers on our property. Refueling trucks come to the site.
  • What you will do: Just driving following yard tasks on what trailers to move on a handheld device. Plus opening/closing trailers, cutting seals, putting up and down landing gear, and chalking wheels etc.


Key Responsibilities

  • Under general direction, responsible for the precision maneuvering of trailers within the facility yard and onto or off of loading docks to support seamless warehouse operations.
  • Will be expected to perform frequent trailer movements, conduct regular yard audits, conduct seal audits, and maintain clear communication with dispatch via radio or yard management software.
  • Operate yard trucks (spotter trucks) to move trailers to and from dock doors and designated yard locations.
  • Perform daily inspections of yard equipment and report maintenance or safety issues.
  • Coordinate with warehouse and logistics teams to prioritize trailer movements and maintain workflow efficiency.
  • Ensure proper trailer placement for loading and unloading activities.
  • Maintain accurate records of trailer locations, movements, and status.
  • Follow all DOT, OSHA, and company safety policies and procedures.
  • Secure trailers, including wheel chocking and verifying dock locks as required.
  • Assist with basic yard organization, including staging and inventory tracking.
  • Respond to radio or system dispatch instructions in a timely manner.


Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED - Required.
  • Valid Drivers License Class C
  • Class A or B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) - is a plus but not required
  • Previous experience operating yard trucks, hostlers, or similar equipment
