Yard Help & Container Delivery - Job Description
Seeking dependable, responsible team player with good work ethic and communication skills for a full time Yard Helper - Container Delivery position. This position will, assist with transfer operations and perform container maintenance, perform container deliveries and bulky item pickup with assigned equipment, and related activities to ensure quality service experience for commercial accounts. Must have valid driver's license.

Essential Functions-
  • Direct dumping route trucks at transfer ramp
    • Direct/assist drivers in dumping loads into drop box
    • Use backhoe to level loads in drop box
    • Close & secure lids for transport
    • Maintain ramp and transfer pad cleanliness
  • Will clean commercial containers with pressure washer as needed
  • Clean commercial container enclosures to specified standards.
  • Safely drive, load and secure containers for delivery & pickup from specified accounts throughout service area.
  • Will safely load and transport bulky items from customer accounts to the company shop for disposal and/or recycling.
  • Will perform daily inspection of vehicles driven.
  • Report any vehicle defect needing correction to shop coordinator.
  • Ensure recycling storage areas at company shop are kept clean and organized.
Required Experience & Abilities-
  • Must be able to pass DOT drug screen test
  • Valid driver license and clean driving record for past three years
  • Meet company driving standards and comply with fleet safety policy
  • Work independently in absence of supervision
  • Understand and follow work orders and other oral or written instructions
  • Establish and maintain cooperative working relationship with those contacted in the course of work
  • Communicate with all levels of personnel and management using good verbal and written skills
  • Knowledge of safe work practices
  • Ability to work varied shifts depending on assignment
Physical Demands-
  • Must be able to lift and load items weighing up to 75 lbs. consistently throughout day
  • Must be able to push/ pull carts weighing up to 150 lbs.
  • Must be able to push/ pull containers weighing up to 1,000 lbs.
  • Must be able to bend or stoop down to lift extra materials into containers or vehicles weighing up to 90 lbs. at a time.
  • Work safely at fast pace all day
  • Must exit pickup at specified accounts to manually load bulky items into pickup bed or trailer.
  • Must be able to work outside - exposed to weather conditions and residential solid waste
Education or Equivalent Experience -
  • Typically requires high school diploma or equivalent
  • At least two years of truck driving experience. Formal training may be substituted for some required experience
Salary -
  • Starting wage - $23.14 per hour. Current top wage - $25.97 per hour. Medical and dental benefits after complete probationary period.
