General Superintendent

Traylor Bros, Inc. (TBI) National Heavy Civil division provides comprehensive, cutting-edge heavy civil/underground construction services through traditional and non-traditional delivery methods. TBI has completed more than 135 complex bridge construction and rehabilitation projects across the nation, including world-record cable-stayed structures and segmental bridges. The group also has a history of providing some of the country's largest port authorities and the maritime industry with the construction of deepwater container piers, wharf facilities, transit terminals, locks, and dams.

What makes us different?

Our Mission is to excel at constructing complex infrastructure safer, better, and faster by engaging the entrepreneurial and innovative spirit of our team members and providing limitless opportunity for personal and professional growth in a close-knit and collaborative organization.

Our Core Values:

  • Safety. We are committed to providing a safe work environment. This is always our priority.
  • People. Our talented team is our greatest asset. We provide opportunity, reward performance, and support a positive and balanced work environment.
  • Innovation. We have the ability to engineer creative solutions to overcome any obstacle.
  • Ethics. We are honest and ethical in all our business dealings.
  • Communication. We encourage open and honest communication throughout our organization.
  • Community. We add value to our industry and the communities in which we work.

Position Summary:

We are seeking a General Superintendent with proven expertise in cast in place segmental bridge construction to lead field execution on complex bridge projects. This role is critical to delivering safe, high quality, and on schedule work for segmental bridge systems, including balanced cantilever and span by span construction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead day to day field operations for cast-in-place segmental bridge construction, including travelers, form systems, and segment pours
  • Execute work plans for segmental sequencing, stressing operations, and geometry control
  • Coordinate closely with engineering, survey, and project management teams to maintain alignment, camber, and tolerances
  • Oversee installation of post-tensioning systems, rebar, embeds, and formwork systems specific to segmental construction
  • Manage concrete placement operations, including cycle times, curing, and quality control for segment pours
  • Ensure compliance with project specifications, contract requirements, and governing standards (e.g., DOT, AASHTO)
  • Identify and resolve field issues related to geometry control, segment alignment, and construction tolerances
  • Drive safety, productivity, and quality through proactive field leadership and planning

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in heavy civil construction, with direct experience in cast-in-place segmental bridge construction
  • Strong understanding of segmental construction methods (balanced cantilever, travelers, post-tensioning systems)
  • Experience managing geometry control, survey coordination, and camber adjustments
  • Proven ability to lead crews and deliver complex bridge work safely and efficiently
  • Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, and segmental shop drawings
  • Strong communication and leadership skills

What We're Looking For:

A hands-on, self-perform leader who understands the complexity of segmental bridge construction and knows how to build the work not just manage it. This individual is willing to teach, mentor, and develop crews, and thrives in union, non-union, and mixed workforce environments. We need someone who can step into a highly technical operation, take ownership, and drive execution with precision, accountability, and discipline hitting the ground running on day one.

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in a construction or engineering-related field preferred, or a combination of education and/or 7-10 years of construction supervision work experience

Physical Demands

  • Travel will be required to attend training and meetings.
  • Ability to sit or stand for entire shift
  • Occasionally required to stoop, bend, walk, crouch, and climb.
  • Ability to lift, on a frequent basis, at least 50 pounds.
  • Ability to speak, write, and understand English clearly.

Traylor Bros., Inc. is an Equal Opportunity Employer and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, national origin, veteran status, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, genetic information, pregnancy, disability, protected activity, or other non-merit factors.
