Job description

Job Title: Material Handler
Location: Memphis TN 38127
Duration: 6Months
Shift: 
10 hour days (6am-4pm). All days no nights, but they work alternate Saturdays. This is a straight day shift but rotating days it that makes sense. Not always working the same days every week.
 
Job Summary:
  • This job exists in order for Client to ship loads of hydrogen peroxide to customers from the Memphis site.
  • The material handler will safely move tank-wagons back and forth for loading and staging for pickup.
  • The material handler will assist warehouse operator with filling totes and drums and preparing for shipment.
  • Maintain rolling stock ready to support S&OP plan.
 
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Safely operate shunt truck to move trailers and containers within the yard.
  • Couple and uncouple trailers and Isotainers.
  • Perform pre and post trip inspections of shunt truck and trailers. 
  • Inspect for issues such as tire damage and improperly dropped empty trailers. 
  • Note all issues or damages to trailers or containers supervisor(s).
  • Enter notifications for required repairs. 
  • Contact vendor for tire changes.
  • Communicate with personnel to ensure efficient movement of trailers and containers, including BU Supply Chain Parts & Equipment Manager  
  • Warehouse responsibilities (30%)
  • Prepare chemical samples for shipment
  • Prepare parts or materials for shipment (example for terminal requirements)
  • Fill drums and totes for shipment.
  • Learn warehouse data entry skills for warehouse operator.
  • Keep storeroom and raw material warehouse organized.
  • Assist warehouse operator in loading product.
  • Other duties as assigned.   
  • Participate in continuous improvement programs including SMART (example daily management meetings and processes, problem solving exercises, cleanliness & order activities etc.).
  • He/she has to have a valid driver's license as this position pulls tank wagons in and out.
  • A person who is experienced backing in long trailers would be great.
  • Willing to work overtime and has attention to detail.
  • We ship hydrogen peroxide so this candidate will be trained on DOT and HazMat regulations.
  • If a person has already been trained on this, that would be several steps ahead of any other candidate.
  • 10 hour days (6-4).

Required:            
  • 1 year Education and area of focus            
  • HS diploma Certifications/Trainings:                 
  • Must have a valid driver’s license. DOT training is a plus.
  • Competencies -Knowledge Skills & Abilities (KSAs)
  • Experience in operating trucks and trailers.
  • Ability to maneuver vehicles in tight spaces.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and procedures.
