Job description

APM Terminals
We Are APM Terminals
At APM Terminals, a global leader in port and terminal operations, we enable global trade and drive sustainable growth. What drives us forward is a mindset of always improving, observing how work happens, identifying what creates value, and removing what gets in the way. We constantly look for smarter, simpler, and safer ways of operating. If you thrive in environments where people value learning and are committed to continuously improve daily operations, join us and be a part of our journey.
This role will be closely connected to APM Terminals Elizabeth, one of the most important container terminals in the Port of New York and New Jersey and a critical gateway for US supply chains. Following the extension of the terminal lease through 2062, APM Terminals is moving into an exciting period of major capital investment focused on modernising the terminal, improving capacity and flow, electrifying equipment, optimising the terminal layout, and future-proofing berths for the next generation of vessels. For a Recruiter, this creates a rare opportunity to support a live infrastructure transformation programme, helping attract the specialist engineering, project, HSSE, asset management, and construction talent needed to deliver long-term operational impact.
What We Can Offer
At APM Terminals, we foster a dynamic learning and training culture that empowers our employees to excel. Our commitment to improvement is driven by Lean principles, ensuring that every team member has the opportunity to develop their skills and advance their careers. Experience a diverse, multinational workplace where your operational insights directly influence how we work.
For this engagement, we offer:
  • A defined, high-impact 12-month consultancy embedded within the Port Elizabeth Upgrade Programme, one of the most significant capex investments in the US port sector following our 33-year lease extension through 2062.
  • Direct access to Project Execution leadership, the Talent Acquisition Business Partner community, and the global APMT TAA function.
  • The opportunity to design and leave behind durable sourcing playbooks, market maps, and community networks that outlast the contract.
  • Opportunity to work with Lean Manufacturing Principals and learn the methodology by working in it, and also attending free internal trainings.

Key Responsibilities
  • Help manage end-to-end requisition delivery for the Port Elizabeth Upgrade Programme's niche capex roles across Asset Management, Civil and Structural Engineering, HSSE, Project Controls, Cost Engineering, Marine/Berth Engineering, Electrification, and Project Management.
  • Build and maintain detailed market maps of US heavy infrastructure and port/terminal engineering talent, including competitor mapping, salary benchmarking, and target-company analysis across adjacent sectors such as EPC/EPCM, rail, energy, and federal infrastructure.
  • Engage niche professional communities and networks, including ASCE, AAPA, AACE, PMI, ASSP, NAEM and women-in-engineering / women-in-construction groups, to generate warm referrals and surface passive talent at depth.
  • Run advanced LinkedIn Recruiter, Boolean, and X-ray sourcing at scale, with a structured outreach cadence and measurable conversion targets against the project's hiring plan.
  • Partner directly with Lead Recruitment Partner to help deliver updates to senior leadership.
  • Embed inclusive hiring standards across every search, including diverse longlists and equitable engagement of underrepresented groups in engineering and construction.
  • Document playbooks, search strategies, target-company maps, and community contacts to enable sustainable pipelines beyond the engagement.

What We Are Looking For
Continuous improvement mindset: we are looking for someone who brings a thoughtful improvement mindset, curious about how work gets done and motivated to make meaningful, sustainable improvements over time.
  • Minimum 8+ years of talent acquisition experience, with significant time spent in sourcing-led or specialist hiring capacities supporting niche, hard-to-fill technical roles.
  • Demonstrable track record hiring for heavy infrastructure, civil engineering, capital projects, ports/terminals, EPC/EPCM, energy, or industrial sectors, with credibility to engage senior engineering and project leadership.
  • Expert-level LinkedIn Recruiter capability, including advanced Boolean, X-ray, Talent Insights, and measurable InMail engagement performance.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain market maps, competitor landscapes, and community engagement strategies for niche skill sets such as Asset Management, Civil Engineering, and HSSE.
  • Strong proficiency in Workday or comparable ATS, with disciplined candidate data management and pipeline reporting.
  • Self-directed delivery style suited to an external consultancy model, with the ability to mobilize quickly, operate autonomously, and transfer knowledge effectively at contract close.
