Job Summary

B&A is seeking a Software Engineer – Journeyman to support the National Geospatial Intelligence Agency (NGA) Terminal Instrument Procedures (TERPS) Production Software. Responsibilities

  • The Journeyman Software Engineer will support the design, development, testing, maintenance, and enhancement of NGA's TERPS production software capability. Working as part of an Agile software development team, this position will develop and maintain application functionality, services, integrations, and automated tests supporting aeronautical and geospatial data processing.
  • Develop, modify, test, debug, and maintain software applications, services, and microservices.
  • Develop application functionality, APIs, database interfaces, and data integrations.
  • Support ingestion, processing, validation, and exchange of aeronautical and geospatial data.
  • Support software integration with relational and spatial databases.
  • Participate in Agile sprint planning, development, testing, demonstrations, and backlog activities.
  • Develop and maintain unit, integration, and end-to-end automated tests.
  • Use GitLab or similar source-control platforms for software development and configuration management.
  • Support automated CI/CD pipelines, software builds, security scans, and deployments.
  • Troubleshoot software defects and implement corrective, perfective, and adaptive maintenance changes.
  • Support remediation of security vulnerabilities and software quality findings.
  • Develop and update technical documentation, test results, release documentation, and deployment information.
  • Collaborate with senior engineers, Software Architects, technical SMEs, and other team members to deliver software capabilities.

Education and Experience

  • 2-5 years' experience with a Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • Experience developing, testing, debugging, and maintaining software applications.
  • Experience with modern programming languages and software development frameworks.
  • Experience working with databases, APIs, and application integrations.
  • Familiarity with Git-based source control and modern software development practices.
  • Experience or familiarity with automated software testing and CI/CD concepts.
  • Ability to work effectively within an Agile software development team.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with technical team members.

Preferred

  • Experience with AWS, OpenShift, containers, Kubernetes, or similar cloud technologies.
  • Experience with PostgreSQL/PostGIS or other relational/spatial databases.
  • Experience with web-based application or microservices development.
  • Experience working with GIS, geospatial, aeronautical, aviation, or terrain data.
  • Familiarity with DAFIF, DVOF, DTED, SRTM, TanDEM-X, AIXM, or comparable datasets.
  • Experience supporting Federal Government and/or DoD software programs.
  • Familiarity with secure software development, DevSecOps, RMF/A&A, or vulnerability remediation.
  • Security+ Certification

  • No security clearance required; must be eligible to meet applicable HSPD-12/Tier 1 requirements for CUI access.
