Job description

Job Title: General Laborer
Job Description

This role supports a paint manufacturing facility by performing a wide range of hands-on tasks across production, cleaning, material handling, and equipment operation. You will help keep operations running smoothly by cleaning totes and barrels, moving materials, printing labels, and assisting in multiple production processes while following strict safety and quality procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Clean totes and barrels thoroughly using appropriate tools, chemicals, and procedures to ensure they are ready for reuse.
  • Print and apply labels accurately to containers, ensuring all information is correct and legible.
  • Move barrels and other containers safely around the facility using appropriate equipment and safe lifting techniques.
  • Perform general labor tasks to support production, packaging, and cleaning activities as needed.
  • Operate production assets safely and follow established procedures and work instructions.
  • Perform daily production tasks, including basic preventative maintenance and process data collection.
  • Report any safety, quality, or operational issues promptly to the appropriate leader or supervisor.
  • Help ensure production targets are met while maintaining required quality standards.
  • Issue Corrective Action Reports (CAR) or Hazard reports when necessary to address safety or quality concerns.
  • Provide progress updates and participate in meetings to support communication and coordination.
  • Assist in investigating health, safety, environmental (HSE) or quality issues and contribute to Continuous Improvement activities.
  • Tank Wash: Clean portable tanks and related equipment using cleaning tools and chemicals, following all safety and handling guidelines.
  • Tank Wash: Operate the automated tank washer machine in accordance with procedures.
  • Pre-kit: Maintain storage of raw materials, intermediates, and finished goods in an organized and safe manner.
  • Pre-kit: Operate a forklift to assist in obtaining and staging materials required for production.
  • Pre-kit: Ensure proper disposal or reconditioning of empty containers in line with site procedures.
  • Material Coordinator: Maintain storage of materials and support fill-off operators with timely material supply.
  • Material Coordinator: Perform daily forklift inspections and operate the forklift to move materials for production.
  • Fill Off: Transfer completed products into containers, ensuring correct fill levels and secure closures.
  • Fill Off: Ensure all containers are properly labeled and documented according to requirements.
  • Fill Off: Measure and weigh products accurately, checking for leaks or other defects before release.
  • Fill Off: Complete batch tickets accurately and send finished containers to the shipping department.
  • Batch Making: Add raw materials in the specified order and quantities, following batch instructions.
  • Batch Making: Coordinate sample testing with Quality Control (QC) and adjust as directed.
  • Batch Making: Maintain housekeeping standards in the batch making area and assist with other tasks as needed.
  • Milling/Grinding Operation: Support milling and grinding operations as directed, following all safety and quality procedures.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, including regular housekeeping tasks across assigned areas.
Essential Skills
  • Experience performing general labor tasks in environments such as manufacturing, construction, production, or warehousing.
  • Ability to use hand tools and power tools safely and effectively.
  • Forklift experience, including safe operation and daily inspection of equipment.
  • Pallet jack experience for moving materials and products safely.
  • Comfort with lifting and moving materials, including barrels and other containers, using proper lifting techniques.
  • Experience in manufacturing, packing, assembly, cleaning, or general production environments.
  • Strong attention to detail when labeling, measuring, weighing, and documenting products.
  • Ability to follow established safety procedures and production instructions consistently.
  • Capability to operate automated equipment, such as an automated tank washer, after training.
  • Willingness to report safety, quality, or operational issues promptly and accurately.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience working in a paint, chemical, or similar manufacturing environment.
  • Familiarity with preventative maintenance and basic equipment checks.
  • Experience with process data collection and documentation in a production setting.
  • Exposure to Continuous Improvement activities and an interest in contributing ideas.
  • Ability to coordinate with Quality Control for sample testing and product verification.
  • Comfort working in multiple roles, such as tank wash, pre-kit, material coordination, fill-off, batch making, and milling/grinding operations.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.50 - $20.50/hr.
