Overview

Job Summary

The Warehouse Grocery Material Handler position is responsible for performing all functions of the Grocery department at the Natural Grocers Distribution Center.  This includes use of SAP for order processing, order pulling, shipping, receiving, cycle counting and new product storage setup.  This position is a physically demanding job that works under minimal supervision, and maintains daily communication with all departments.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities

  1. Use SAP system to process purchase orders from stores according to daily schedule
  2. Responsible for efficiently filling store orders, properly palletizing for stability, and delivering pallets to the staging area in a safe and efficient manner
  3. Perform weekly cycle counts of grocery inventory
  4. Verify product rotation as needed for FIFO
  5. Prioritize and process purchase orders for all new store openings
  6. Schedule inbound containers and truckloads for grocery
  7. Check PO’s for accuracy of inbound loads; report any discrepancies to management
  8. Receive product and perform applicable food safety checks required
  9. Determine storage locations for inbound container loads to maximize storage space
  10. Assist shipping with stacking, wrapping, and labeling pallets for the outbound orders
  11. Maintain good housekeeping in the grocery department and surrounding areas
  12. Assist with bulk order pulling when backup is needed
  13. Provide clear and professional communication with stores, managers, coworkers and vendors at all times regarding duties, priorities and needs in the distribution center
  14. Must adhere to all company policies and procedures
  15. May be assigned to other warehouse duties as needed

Qualifications

Qualifications:

    • High school diploma or equivalent is required
    • Must have current Colorado Driver’s License and reliable transportation
    • Minimum 2 years of experience in warehousing, including order picking, shipping, and receiving required
    • Previous forklift experience required; must be certified by NGVC on sit down and stand-up reach trucks, and rider pallet jack
    • Good attention to detail required; accuracy and thoroughness is a must
    • Excellent organizational skills required
    • Ability to work under minimal supervision
    • Flexibility with working hours to accommodate warehouse needs
    • Able to work in seasonally warm or cool environment
    • Able to assist in other departments as needed
    • Previous experience with inventory required. Experience with SAP a plus
