Job description

Overview

The Office Maintenance Technician is responsible for providing a safe and efficient working environment for our office employees. This position assists with the maintenance and repairs office furnishings and other equipment throughout the corporate office and can aid in a variety of technical repairs and general office support.

This is a contract position that is on-site five days per week. It is an hourly, non-exempt role.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform maintenance and repairs for office areas, furnishings, bathrooms, and equipment, including kitchen appliances, plumbing, painting, light HVAC and electrical work, copier repairs, and other equipment used in business operations
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and well-organized work environment, ensuring the safety and security of employees, customers, and property
  • Support office reconfigurations, special projects, and company events; assist in coordinating work performed by external vendors when needed
  • Use Service Channel software to log and track repairs, preventative maintenance, and special projects, ensuring timely completion and accurate records
  • Perform preventative maintenance on building and kitchen equipment to keep them in good working order
  • Communicate effectively with managers and team members to provide updates on repairs, maintenance, and project progress
  • Adhere to all safety policies and procedures, maintaining discretion with confidential and sensitive information
  • Arrive promptly for scheduled shifts and remain flexible to take on additional duties as business needs evolve
  • Performs other requested tasks and duties

Experience and Skills Required

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 5 or more years of general maintenance experience in an office, retail, or facilities environment preferred (or an equivalent combination of skills and hands-on experience), including the safe use of hand tools, power tools, and gauges, and basic skills in plumbing, painting, and electrical work
  • Ability to read and interpret MEP (Mechanical/Electrical/Plumbing) drawings and schematics, research equipment for repairs and parts, and partner with additional experts when needed
  • Proficiency with basic computer programs such as Outlook, Word, and Excel, and the ability to learn work order systems (Service Channel) and shipping platforms (FedEx manifesting)
  • Strong problem-solving and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks, work independently, and successfully manage multiple projects
  • Professional and approachable, with strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work effectively with all levels of the organization in an office setting
  • Flexible, adaptable, and self-motivated, with a positive attitude, strong attention to detail, and a willingness to share knowledge with others
  • Committed to working scheduled hours, with flexibility to adjust as business needs change; based in the Dallas Fort Worth Metroplex
  • Dedicated to safety and the ability to maintain focus and make thoughtful decisions that support our customers and our company
