Job description

Overview
The CKD Material Purchasing Specialist is responsible for the establishment and administration of the Purchasing Working Group. Ensuring the production line has a continuous supply of needed parts by monitoring inventory levels and purchasing processes, providing information to suppliers, working on trial builds and Purchase Orders, maintaining purchasing information, providing information for status reports, and analyzing part requirements.
Responsibilities
(To perform within this position successfully, the incumbent must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other duties may be assigned.)
KD Purchasing
  • Requisition and maintain inventories of materials and supplies necessary to meet production demands.
  • Provide requirements and inventory assessments to Suppliers to ensure efficient operations of all applicable module processes.
  • Prepare and present reports and information related to shortage problems and communicate to management, including reporting weekly/monthly plan vs. result information; Expedite delivery of shortage.
  • Monitor production schedules when required due to design changes, labor or material shortages, backlogs, or other interruptions, collaborating with management, production, suppliers, and CKD Control team in HQ KR.
  • Review production schedules to determine both material requirements and material priorities for Purchase Order release.
  • Prepare and analyze transportation costs and planning for saving cost on transportation.
  • Coordinate effective flow of products; continually improve flow of material to reduce the amount of inventory; make recommendations and adjustments.
  • Work with Production Control on all trial builds and issue Purchase Orders to support the programs, ensuring timely delivery and correct Engineering Order-level parts.
  • Perform physical checks of inventory to troubleshoot inventory accuracy errors.
  • Monitor and compare supplier returns with systematic movements.
  • Maintain accurate material data and transactions in the SAP system.
  • Maintain Supplier portal system contents (GSCP).
  • Meet all other requirements as assigned.

Customs & Duty
  • Monitor import customs clearance status and Trade policy changes between the US and KR (especially, duty ratio).
  • Contact window for Customs clearance and Duty authorities with Customs Broker.
  • Deal with Audit from CBP and Trading issue response.
  • Conduct a contingency plan in case of trouble with customs clearance in case of Air Freight.
  • Make plans for the duty budget and maintain the account amount for duty.
  • Manage container detention, demurrage (CY free time) in US port; Track containers in transit, at Port, at CY and call containers to plant.
  • Maintain import documents (C/O, Invoice, P/L, B/L) and verify HS-code.
  • Meet all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Education & Experience:
  • High School Diploma/ GED required.
  • 0 to 3 years of experience in Just-in-Sequence-related purchasing experience in the Automotive industry preferred.
  • Experienced in the automotive industry - Plant build-up desired.

Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
  • Must be fluent in Korean and English, written and spoken.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
  • SAP experience (PP/MM/SD) desired.

Preferred Education & Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree - Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering/Logistics/Supply Chain Management

Working Conditions:
  • Position hours: 6:00 am to 2:30 pm
  • Overtime as needed
  • Traversing around the production floor
  • Occasional travel as needed.
