Job description

Summary: The Team Leader manages and leads a team of employees by communicating company goals, safety practices, and quality guidelines. This role motivates team members, assesses performance, and keeps management informed of team activities and results. The Team Leader serves as a key communication link between operators, technicians, and management, ensuring production activities are carried out safely, efficiently, and in compliance with quality and food safety requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide encouragement to team members, fostering an environment of trust, open communication, and teamwork.
  • Lead by example, demonstrating behaviors that align with company values, policies, and expectations.
  • Perform onboarding and training for new hires and temporary employees.
  • Answer team members' questions, assist with problem-solving, and oversee work to ensure compliance with quality, safety, and food safety requirements, including sanitary conditions and proper hygiene practices.
  • Promote adherence to company policies, procedures, and performance goals.
  • Facilitate problem-solving and collaboration, assist in resolving conflicts, and provide reports to management as required.
  • Conduct team meetings to communicate best practices, expectations, and operational updates.
  • Serve as a point of contact to communicate and resolve issues with other teams and departments.
  • Reports all quality and technical issues to the Shift Technician in a timely manner.
  • Generate and share clear, accurate, and detailed reports regarding operator performance.
  • Report quality problems or concerns using the appropriate quality documentation.
  • Complete all required documentation and provide daily production reports via email.
  • Manage machine assignments and employee time usage, including break scheduling.
  • Cover operators' lunch, dinner, and break periods as required to maintain production continuity.
  • Use measuring tools to verify product specifications and quality requirements as needed.
  • Validate that each production line is using the raw materials specified in the work order to maintain traceability.
  • Perform label and color changes in accordance with established procedures, making sure there is no mix-ups of raw materials.
  • Validate clearance of the lines following press repairs.
  • Manage non-conforming parts to ensure Quality and Warehouse teams can follow up appropriately.
  • Ensure operators complete required two-hour checks and assist with sorting activities to confirm products meet quality guidelines.
  • Report any food safety hazards, non-conformances, or deviations immediately and participate in corrective actions as required.
  • Report any issues related to the Food Safety Management System (FSMS) to identified personnel.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by Management.

Educations and/or Experience:

Requirements:
  • Computer and printer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and be dependable.
  • Be able to speak, listen and openly communicate with team members as needed.
  • Lift up to 60 lbs. on occasional basis, push/pull up to 60 lbs frequently
  • Frequent standing, walking, and manual handling of materials for up to 8 hours a day.
  • Occasional stooping, kneeling, and climbing.
  • Pushing/pulling various plant materials
