General Summary

NIC Industries, Inc. is seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Consumer Logistics Technician to join our team in White City, OR. In conformance with established company policies, practices, and standard operating procedures, this role ensures all consumer logistics shipments receive proper labeling and postal charges, and are packaged to arrive safely. The Consumer Logistics Technician is responsible for daily logistics operations, ensuring the efficient movement, storage, and distribution of goods.

Key Responsibilities


Consumer Logistics & Order Fulfillment

  • Prepare shipments for postal or commercial conveyance per packaging Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Prepare manual and electronic software bills of lading.
  • Check items to be shipped against available paperwork (including Sales Orders, Purchase Orders, and Emails) to ensure quantities, destinations, and routing are correct.
  • Ship, pick, and pull all daily Auto & Home Nexus orders.
  • Process drop-shipments from BigCommerce/Nexus for major retailers.
  • Create and print case labels and packing lists for all orders.
  • Handle the shipping of Amazon and Walmart WFS shipments.


Carrier Communication & Problem Solving

  • Communicate with suppliers, carriers, and freight partners regarding estimated time of arrival (ETA) for pickups and deliveries.
  • Resolve logistics issues, delays, and discrepancies across all consumer shipments.
  • Monitor international shipments and provide missing information to carriers when needed.
  • Communicate effectively with LTL/3PL carriers (such as SAIA, TQL, Worldwide Logistics, and NNR Global) to ensure timely imports and exports.
  • Adhere to departmental policies, procedures, objectives, and safety/environmental regulations.


Skills and Qualifications

  • Certifications & Systems: Successfully complete IATA certifications; ability to ship all retail/big box vendor orders via shipping software.
  • Technical Skills: Effectively use a computer, learn shipping software, prepare routine administrative paperwork, and maintain accurate record-keeping.
  • Documentation & Compliance: Correctly fill out shipping documents, international forms, and hazardous materials (hazmat) shipments according to DOT/IATA regulations.
  • Core Competencies: Read, sort, check, count, and verify numbers and documentation; perform simple arithmetic; detect problems and report information to appropriate personnel.
  • General: Understand and follow safety procedures, develop knowledge of commercial shipping methods, and maintain a clean, organized work area and equipment.


Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift and manipulate heavy objects, operate a dolly, and assist in routine maintenance of equipment and the shipping area.
  • Regularly lift containers weighing up to 50 lbs, as well as boxes, bottles, and/or bags.
  • Standing and/or walking for the majority of the workday.
  • Good manual dexterity, strength, endurance, and flexibility, with the ability to lift weight above the head when required.
