Job description

Position Summary

The Rule Machine Operator is responsible for the safe setup, operation, adjustment, and maintenance of rule processing equipment used in the manufacturing of cutting dies. This position ensures steel rule is accurately processed to customer specifications while maintaining quality, productivity, and safety standards. The Rule Machine Operator works closely with Production teams to ensure customer orders are completed accurately and on schedule.

The Rule Machine Operator is expected to drive Container Graphics' CS1 mindset and always represent the company in a positive, energetic, and consistent manner. The Rule Machine Operator reports directly to the Production Manager.

Essential Functions
  • Set up, operate, and adjust rule processing equipment to produce steel rule components according to engineering specifications.
  • Read and interpret work orders and production schedules.
  • Verify material specifications, dimensions, and tolerances before and during production.
  • Perform routine machine adjustments to maintain product quality and production efficiency.
  • Inspect finished rule for accuracy, quality, and conformance to customer specifications.
  • Perform basic preventative maintenance and daily equipment inspections.
  • Troubleshoot machine issues and notify maintenance or supervision of equipment concerns beyond operator capability.
  • Maintain accurate production records and report completed work orders.
  • Safely handle steel rule and other production materials while following proper material handling procedures.
  • Work collaboratively with Engineering and Die Assembly departments to resolve production issues.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
  • Meet or exceed established production, quality, and efficiency goals.
  • Follow all CGC corporate safety program requirements, including proper use of required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
Education / Experience RequirementsPosition Level
  • Entry to Mid-Level Manufacturing
Minimum Education & Experience
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Manufacturing or machine operation experience preferred.
  • Ability to read a tape measure and use basic measuring instruments.
Preferred Education & Experience
  • 2+ years operating manufacturing equipment.
  • Experience in diemaking, converting, packaging, printing, or corrugated manufacturing.
  • Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting experience.
  • Experience reading blueprints or engineering drawings.
Knowledge / Skills Requirements
  • Ability to safely operate manufacturing equipment.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and work instructions.
  • Knowledge of quality inspection methods and measuring devices.
  • Ability to identify defects and make machine adjustments.
