Quality Analyst - Edison, New Jersey

Silgan Containers is looking for a Quality Analyst to join our manufacturing team in Edison, New Jersey. If you are detail-oriented, enjoy working in a fast-paced production environment, and take pride in making sure products meet the highest standards, this is an opportunity to make a real impact.
As a Quality Analyst, you will play a critical role in quality control, defect prevention, production monitoring, testing, and continuous improvement. You'll work closely with production, maintenance, and management to identify problems, protect product quality, and help keep our operation running safely and efficiently.
What You'll Do
  • Monitor production to ensure products meet dimensional and visual specifications.
  • Use quality-control software, including Gainseeker, for data collection, analysis, training, and record control.
  • Perform inspections and special testing, including metallurgical and product testing.
  • Use precision measuring equipment such as micrometers, dial indicators, microscopes, go/no-go gauges, analytical balances, and enamel raters.
  • Review prints, specification sheets, standard sheets, charts, and written and verbal instructions.
  • Identify and reject raw materials that do not meet specifications.
  • Place nonconforming production on hold and assist with defect sorting and disposition.
  • Investigate and help process customer complaints and quality reports.
  • Accurately document visual and dimensional inspection results.
  • Identify defects and clearly document the disposition of held or released product.
  • Assist with the gauge calibration program and report equipment or gauges requiring repair.
  • Help train manufacturing employees on data collection and quality procedures.
  • Create files and establish procedures within the QA/S system.
  • Direct and complete quality projects with little or no supervision.
  • Communicate out-of-specification conditions to mechanics, supervisors, and management.
  • Assist with employee and Management Trainee training as needed.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
  • Follow all safety policies and company directives.

  • Basic understanding of Statistical Process Control (SPC).

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask.
  • Excellent time-management and organizational skills.
  • Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Dependable and flexible, with the ability to work rotating 12-hour shifts and overtime as needed.
  • Basic understanding of raw material identification and manufacturing processes.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities.
  • Basic knowledge of equipment operation and material flow within a manufacturing facility.

Physical Demands & Work Environment
From a physical standpoint, this role is active and physically demanding. You can expect to:
  • Stand and walk frequently throughout the shift.
  • Lift, carry, push, and pull tools and materials in the 6-50 lb. range.
  • Occasionally handle 51-100 lbs. using assistance or equipment.
  • Rarely handle loads over 100 lbs. with team lifting or mechanical assistance.
  • Perform tasks requiring bending, squatting, kneeling, crawling, reaching, balancing, and fine manipulation.
  • Perform repetitive assembly and repair tasks.
  • Occasionally climb stairs or ladders.
  • Work around moving machinery, power equipment, vibration, and elevated noise levels.
  • Be exposed to heat, cold, humidity, dust, fumes, and wet conditions typical of a manufacturing environment.
