Job Summary:
Be responsible for the timely and accurate delivery of products to customers via truck while ensuring the highest standards of friendly customer service, communication, and attention to detail. Ensure safety compliance with strict adherence to procedures and proactive measures to protect Coworkers, the public, and equipment. Collaborate with external customers and internal teams to provide a seamless customer experience, addressing any delivery concerns proactively. Work closely with the Logistics Team to maintain equipment, supplies, and information systems and provide valuable feedback on route efficiency and safety to drive continuous improvement. The wage range includes a $146.67 per week Per Diem while on duty.
Essential Functions:
  • Safely operate a commercial vehicle in compliance with all DOT regulations for Class B commercial vehicle, maintaining professionalism and calm under pressure.
  • Perform thorough pre and post-trip inspections and adhere to all company, governmental, and regulatory agency policies and guidelines.
  • Promote a strong safety culture by working and driving safe and supporting safety with Coworkers.
  • Maintain equipment and supplies, promptly reporting maintenance needs to the Logistics Manager.
  • Accurately double check loads and paperwork for accuracy and ensure efficiency by securing deliveries while minimizing losses.
  • Adhere to scheduled delivery windows, maintaining reliability and professionalism.
  • Provide constructive feedback to Logistics and Warehouse teams to improve efficiency and customer service.
  • Complete required paperwork, collect payments, and manage returnable deposit containers accurately
  • Take care and pride in meeting the needs of each customer on route.
  • Identify sales opportunities and issues in stores and report back to the Customer Service team and/or Logistics Manager.
  • Use all company systems in compliance with established policies and procedures including workplace safety and food safety policies and procedures.
  • Participate and contribute to strong safety culture by working safe and supporting safety with Coworkers.
  • Help generate healthy company profits consistent with our mission and principles.
  • Uphold the highest standard of food safety by following all policies and procedures in the Food Safety Plan applicable to the job title.
  • Communicate in-person, via phone, and over email in a friendly and professional manner.
  • Participate in department meetings and trainings as needed and/or scheduled.
  • Complete company-sponsored training in Lean and Kaizen culture, use Lean and Kaizen principles in collaboration with Coworkers to reduce waste, improve customer outcomes, and support company goals and objectives.
  • Comply with all applicable company, governmental, and regulatory agency policies and guidelines.

Job Requirements and Qualifications:
Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
Training Requirements (licenses, programs, or certificates):
  • Valid Class B Commercial Driver's License with Air Break Endorsement required.
  • Valid Medical Card required.

Skill Requirements:
  • Proficient and safe driver with clean record.
  • Stay calm and flexible under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to give excellent customer service at all times, able to anticipate customers' needs through being attentive, listening, and communicating effectively.
  • Ability to read maps, use GPS systems, and efficiently plan routes. Familiarity with delivery area is preferred, or ability to learn quickly.
  • Able to maintain a consistent and prompt schedule.
  • Basic mechanical knowledge, able to diagnose issues and perform inspections.
  • Detail oriented, well organized.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills, good interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to work well individually and with others.
  • Basic math skills.
  • Basic computer skills.

Experience:
  • 2+ years commercial delivery.
  • Customer Service - previous experience in a position that interfaces directly with customers on a regular basis is required.
  • Any experience with route scheduling or fleet management is a plus.
  • Natural Foods - any experience, personal or professional, with the natural foods industry is a plus.

Physical, Mental and Visual Requirements:
  • In support of some essential job functions, the position requires the CDL Delivery Driver to work in commercial food production and warehouse environments. While in these environments, the Coworker must be able to safely comply with all company and regulatory rules and guidelines.
  • The position requires frequent and repeated exposure to major food allergens, including but not limited to, wheat, tree nuts, dairy, and soybeans.

  • The CDL Delivery Driver position requires driving alone for many hours at a time.

    • Be able to see and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
    • While performing the duties of this job, the Coworker will be required to move frequently, stand, walk, bend, kneel, stoop, reach, climb, and sit regularly. The Coworker is frequently required to use hands to touch, handle, and feel, and to reach with hands and arms. The Coworker must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 60lbs on a repetitive basis.
    • Be able to legally operate a motor vehicle and safely and frequently enter/exit the vehicle as well as the rear cargo area.
    • Have the ability to push/pull pallets with weights of up to 2,500 lbs. with an electric pallet jack when needed.
    • Be able to use electric and manual pallet jacks.
    • Have the ability to safely move pallets on and off a truck lift gate while using both a manual and electric pallet jack.

Other Information (travel required, workplace environment, etc.):
  • Travel to visit potential or current vendors, customers, or attend trade shows, educational conferences, or industry events will be necessary throughout the year.
  • The CDL Delivery Driver position requires being away from home overnight 2-3 nights per week.
  • Must be able to comply with government regulations for CDL drivers, including passing a pre-employment drug screening test, participating in a random drug & alcohol screening pool, and reporting to the lab before the deadline when selected for random drug and alcohol screenings.
