Job description

Container, Chassis, and Trailer Mechanic – Join Our Team at CSX Philadelphia Railroad Terminal!
Pacific Trailer Repair Services is hiring a motivated Container, Chassis, and Trailer Mechanic to join our growing team in the stable, recession-proof intermodal industry. Work full-time at the CSX Philadelphia, PA Railroad Terminal in a permanent position with great hours and real career potential.

No prior container or chassis experience? No problem. If you have solid mechanical knowledge and hands-on experience, we'll provide comprehensive training to set you up for success.

Starting Pay:
$20 – $22 per hour, based on your prior experience.

Schedule:
  • 8-hour shifts, Monday through Friday.
  • Day shift only – no nights or weekends. 
  • Overtime opportunities available.

What You'll Do:
As a key member of our team, you'll inspect, diagnose, and repair chassis, trailers, and containers to keep equipment safe and operating at peak performance. Responsibilities include: 
  • Performing daily inspections to meet Federal Highway Administration safety standards 
  • Dismantling, repairing, and reassembling components such as landing gears, wheel axles, and brakes (welding may be required) 
  • Troubleshooting and maintaining electrical systems 
  • Completing accurate, legible work orders in a timely manner 
  • Wearing required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including safety toe boots, hearing protection, safety glasses, hard hat, and welding gear when needed 
  • Keeping your work area clean and safe 
  • Handling additional duties as assigned

What We're Looking For:
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation. 
  • Ability to pass pre-employment screenings (background check, drug test, and physical strength test) 
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a hands-on mechanical background. 
  • Welding experience is a plus, but not required.

Physical Requirements:
This is an active, outdoor role in varying weather conditions (rain, snow, heat, cold, wind). You'll move throughout the yard and terminal by walking or driving, work around fast-moving equipment, and handle frequent noise levels. Safety comes first – you'll need to stay alert in a dynamic environment.
