Job description

YRD, LLC. is a consumer goods company that specializes in hardlines/durable goods which are marketed and
sold on/in home shopping television networks, large retail chains and e-commerce. Our product range spans
multiple categories – garden, beauty, cleaning, kitchen, auto and many more. We directly manage and handle
the complete product life cycle from the initial design to prototyping all the way through the manufacturing
process. The ideal candidate will take responsibility for their own products and timelines associated with
development. Please note that we are looking for someone who designs and makes hard goods; someone who
has experience with and creates their own products. Although having experience in web design could be a plus,
we’re not looking for someone who exclusively designs and creates web sites.
Key Responsibilities / Contributions

  • Identify a market need/problem and come up with an idea for a product to solve that problem
  • Perform market research to determine if the problem is large enough to warrant the product-based
    solution and if the customers are willing to pay for this solution.
  • Design the product concept and analyze whether or not the product could be a solution.
  • Develop and create a minimum viable product (MVP), an initial version that has only enough function
    to meet its customers purpose.
  • Identify and reach out to new manufacturers (primarily in China; United States, and Mexico) with a goal
    of vetting the manufacturer and initiating cost negotiations
  • Analyze and identify manufacturing timelines and goals to ensure timely delivery
  • Ability to effectively communicate with manufacturer’s engineers to monitor product completion with
    the ability to troubleshoot manufacturing issues and developing creative solutions in order to meet
    delivery deadlines
  • Create detailed documents to communicate features and product status to all stakeholders.
  • Ongoing product modifications and feedback to continue growth with the product roadmap setting new
    strategic goals for the product.
    Work skills, education and previous experience:
  • 4+ years previous experience as a Product Developer
  • 4-year college degree (or equivalent experience)
  • Excellent computer skills (Mac-based is a plus); ability to engage with any program/application
  • Excellent writing and verbal skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office – Word, Excel, Power Point Outlook
