Job description

About NRG
NRG is a leading global insights and strategy firm at the confluence of content, culture, and technology. We stay ahead of what's next, providing fresh insights to spark new ideas. We're a trusted partner to our clients, working behind the scenes to bring imagination, depth, and clarity to their biggest challenges-in entertainment, technology, lifestyle, sports, and gaming. Together, we create with confidence.
We're proud of our company's values - these values guide us as we navigate sunny days, gray skies and everything in between:
  • Do what you love. With conviction.
  • Where discovery lives. And impact drives.
  • Celebrate difference. Cultivate belonging.
  • Big thinking. Collectively inspired.
  • Embrace the journey. Be human.

The Opportunity
NRG is seeking a Research Analyst to join our Future Of practice, supporting our flagship syndicated biannual landscape studies: Future of Film and Future of Series-which elevate consumer trends into clear, actionable strategic guidance for our studio and streaming clients.
This role sits at the intersection of research, storytelling, and cultural intelligence. You'll dive into both qualitative and quantitative research to help track, analyze, and translate what's happening across the entertainment ecosystem-from audience behavior and industry strategy to cultural shifts shaping film and television's future.
We're looking for someone who is deeply engaged with entertainment as an industry: someone who follows the trades, tracks studio moves and platform strategy, listens to industry podcasts, and actively thinks about where film and TV are headed.
Your Impact
  • Support all phases of quantitative and qualitative research tied to Future of Film and Future of Series, from early design through final delivery.
  • Translate data into clear, actionable insights and recommendations through visual, creative and story-driven reports.
  • Conduct ongoing landscape and trends research, tracking developments across film, television, streaming, platforms, talent, technology, and audience behavior.
  • Source, synthesize, and contextualize information from our proprietary data, third party data (e.g., Box Office Mojo), and cultural signals.
  • Organize and maintain project materials, including databases, trackers, ensuring clarity, version control, and accessibility.
  • Manage survey logic proofing, link testing, and QA, ensuring clean execution prior to launch.
  • Conduct data checks and number validation, supporting accuracy across reports, presentations, and data repositories.
  • Support presentation development, including slide builds, script drafting, and narrative flow for client readouts.
  • Assist with qualitative research setup and coordination, including discussion guide support, materials prep, and collaboration with moderators and operations teams.
  • Partner closely with internal teams (programming, fieldwork, data processing, design) to keep projects moving forward on tight timelines.
  • Contribute to external-facing thinking-helping shape POVs, frameworks, and narratives that may appear in reports, presentations, or broader thought leadership moments.
  • Provide overflow support to the broader Content Development & Marketing Strategy practice during non-peak Future Of periods, contributing to team-wide success and collaboration.
  • Leverage AI-enabled approaches to enhance the speed, scale, and depth of insight generation across research and storytelling.

Who We're Looking For
  • Prior - Prior internship or work experience in market research or consumer insights is a plus, but not required. We welcome early career candidates, including recent or soon-to-be graduates, and value hands-on-academic research experience - tell us about the projects you've worked on!
  • Writing and storytelling - You know how to connect the dots and turn complex research findings into clear, compelling narratives. Whether you are writing a report, building a presentation, or presenting to a client, you bring insights to life in a way that captures attention and drives decisions.
  • Curious and future-minded- You are genuinely interested in seeking information on the "whys," always digging for more information to understand what makes consumers tick. You're constantly asking "what's changing?" and "what's next?"-especially when it comes to audiences, technology, and content strategy.
  • Consumer-to-market translator - You're skilled at moving from consumer insight to strategic implication, helping answer the question: "So what does this mean for studios, platforms, and content teams?"
  • Problem Solver - You are a natural problem solver. When something doesn't go as planned, your first instinct is to look for a solution, rather than viewing it as a roadblock.
  • Data-driven critical thinker - You're comfortable working with data to identify trends and insights, including both structured (i.e. data and hard numbers) and unstructured (i.e. interviews and qualitative) data. You have experience visualizing data with tools such as Excel and Powerpoint.
  • Data analysis techniques and software - Familiarity with any of the following data analysis techniques would be ideal: statistical significance testing, correlation analysis, multivariate analysis techniques (such as cluster/segmentation analysis) and conjoint and discrete choice analysis. Experience with SPSS, Q, or advanced analytics is a plus but not required.
  • AI-curious and capable - You have experience using AI tools and are thoughtful about how AI can enhance-not replace-insight work.
  • Self-starter - Internally-motivated who continuously strives to get things done well, regardless of challenges encountered. You are proactive and always keep an eye on the next step.
  • Clear and proactive communicator - You have excellent verbal communication skills and are able to communicate clearly and succinctly. You're comfortable asking questions and sharing your point of view.
  • Hawk-eyed attention to detail - You notice when font sizes change unexpectedly or a proper noun isn't capitalized. Errors don't get past you and you are always focused on ensuring high levels of quality control and reporting.
  • Great team member - Team player who works collaboratively and harmoniously within a team and across teams. You welcome feedback because you have a zest for learning and growing.
  • Your degree(s) - You have a B.A./B.S. degree in areas such as Social Sciences, Psychology, Business, Marketing, Market Research, Statistics, Economics or a related field. Additional degrees are welcome!

Position Type

  • Flexible/Remote work with optional usage of our great offices in Culver City
  • Unlimited PTO, volunteer days and a generous number of recharge days including a full office closure during the week of Christmas and New Year's

  • Regular team/company events and activities including annual summer and holiday parties
  • Pet friendly headquarters and pet insurance options
