Job Summary

Sidus Space is seeking a Thermal Engineer with experience in spacecraft, satellite systems, or other space-related hardware. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the thermal analysis, modeling, and testing of circuit cards, electronic assemblies, and satellite components to ensure system reliability and performance in harsh space environments. 

This position is expected to be onsite in Cape Canaveral 


Essential Duties/Responsibilities 

  • Perform detailed thermal analyses on circuit cards, electronic assemblies, and spacecraft hardware using industry-standard tools. 
  • Develop thermal models to support design decisions for satellites and other space systems. 
  • Evaluate thermal performance, identify potential issues, and propose design improvements. 
  • Support thermal vacuum testing, thermal cycling, and environmental qualification. 
  • Collaborate closely with electrical, mechanical, and systems engineering teams to integrate thermal considerations into multi-disciplinary designs. 
  • Prepare technical documentation, analysis reports, and presentations for design reviews. 
  • Work with manufacturing and test teams to ensure design intent is met throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Support mechanical design projects as required.
  • Communicate professionally and effectively with internal and external customers.
  • Treat all coworkers with respect and dignity ensuring a collaborative culture is continually developed and maintained.

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in thermal analysis or thermal engineering.

  

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in spacecraft or satellite thermal design.
  • Proficiency with tools such as Thermal Desktop, SINDA/FLUINT, ESATAN, or similar thermal analysis software.
  • 2+ years of mechanical design experience with CAD tools such as SolidWorks or similar software.

  

Bonus Skills

  • Experience with CFD tools or heat transfer simulation software.
  • Proficiency interpreting engineering drawings, schematics, and design requirements.
  • Experience with satellite integration and test.
  • Experience supporting environmental testing (TVAC, thermal cycling).
  • Familiarity with high-density circuit cards analysis and electronic packaging.
  • Familiarity with reliability engineering and component derating for space applications.

 

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods standing or walking on hard surfaces
  • Ability to travel <10%
  • Ability to lift up to 30 lbs.
