Why this role matters

AHA Engineers is a five-office MEP consulting firm designing mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems for commercial, institutional, and mission critical facilities across the country. Our Alpharetta team works on technically demanding projects where precision and coordination matter. This role is a direct contributor to that work—taking projects from schematic design through construction documents, coordinating with clients and the broader design team, and helping raise the technical standard for how we deliver. If you have a background in electrical design, particularly in data centers or mission critical environments, this is hands-on project work with real scope from day one.

Key responsibilities

  • Design electrical systems—power distribution, lighting, lightning protection, and grounding/bonding—using Revit for new construction and renovation projects.
  • Perform engineering calculations and studies including short circuit, breaker coordination, arc flash, and load analysis using SKM Power Tools.
  • Verify designs comply with applicable building codes; update work as codes and project requirements evolve.
  • Conduct field visits to document existing conditions and support accurate design solutions.
  • Coordinate with clients, architects, and other disciplines to resolve design issues and keep projects on schedule.
  • Research and recommend electrical equipment with guidance from senior engineers, drawing on manufacturer technical resources.
  • Contribute to the development and consistent application of company design and production standards.
  • Manage multiple active projects simultaneously, delivering accurate work on schedule.
  • Apply sound engineering judgment to support project execution and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.

Required qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering; OR Associate’s degree in a related technical field plus a minimum of 3 years of experience at an MEP firm.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in electrical engineering or a closely related technical field.
  • Working knowledge of electrical system design, including power distribution, lighting, and low-voltage systems.
  • Familiarity with applicable building codes (NEC, IBC, and local amendments) and ability to read construction documents, schematics, and engineering drawings.
  • Proficiency with Revit and SKM Power Tools.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to travel locally as required.

Preferred qualifications

  • 4 or more years of experience in electrical engineering design at an MEP or A/E firm.
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification.
  • Experience designing electrical systems for data centers or mission critical facilities, including power distribution, UPS systems, generators, automatic transfer switches, and arc flash/coordination studies.
  • Strong MS Office skills, including Excel and Microsoft Teams.

At AHA, our success starts with our people — and we invest in creating an environment where you can grow and thrive. In addition to competitive pay and comprehensive benefits, we offer programs that set us apart:
