Position Summary
The Construction Safety Analyst leads College-wide efforts to develop, coordinate, and monitor contractor safety and construction site safety for the College community. This position is responsible for providing on-site safety support for construction activities on College property to ensure compliance with applicable regulations and ensure safety is preserved for the College community during construction and contractor activities.
Duties & Responsibilities
  • Advise leadership regarding contractor safety and construction site safety to ensure regulatory compliance as mandated by local, state, and federal agencies, including Occupational Safety and Health (OSHA) 29 CFR 1926 is met.
  • Support Project Management staff and trade contractors in their efforts to comply with college safety programs and the contractor's project-specific safety plan.
  • Ensure required construction safety requirements are met, including but not limited to requirements to gather contractor site safety programs, chemical inventories/SDSs, hot work permits, confined space entry permits, crane lift plans, and construction site safety plans.
  • Execute stop work interventions in accordance with the college program.
  • Gather and maintain documentation to support regulatory compliance for construction projects, including but not limited to contractors' site safety programs, project safety orientation training, Job Hazard Analyses (JHA), SDSs, hot work permits, confined space entry permits, crane lift plans, pre-task assessments, and accident and near-miss investigation.
  • Participate in project planning meetings and construction site meetings to review upcoming activities and associated project hazards.
  • Conduct site inspections with the Project Manager, focusing on work site safety
  • Proposes corrections of safety deviations with the Project Manager and supports corrective action implementation.
  • Advising the Campus Safety Committee and Management on applicable construction site safety and contractor safety issues.
  • Performs analysis and data management of College-wide information related to contractor safety and construction site safety.
  • Prepares reports and trend analysis for compliance conditions for contractor safety and construction site safety.
  • Research applicable regulations and codes for contractor safety and construction site safety compliance issues.
  • Supports Risk Management efforts to monitor, develop, and implement College-wide safety programs and participates in the development and implementation of programs when programs overlap or the needs of the department change.
  • Performs or coordinates industrial hygiene studies (light, noise, air samples) in areas identified by the contractor safety program.
  • Creates, evaluates, coordinates, and conducts training to support contractor safety and construction site safety.
  • Responds to emergencies involving contractors or construction sites.
  • Analyzes accident and incident reports for trends; makes recommendations for correcting unsafe conditions and actions.
  • Assists in the development or implementation of Risk Management safety programs.
  • Leads and/or supervises the work of lower-level safety technicians and/or student employees.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • 5 years of full-time experience in construction-specific safety.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA Construction Standards.
  • Certified Safety & Health Official - Construction Industry

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Hazardous Materials Operations (HAZMAT Ops)
  • Emergency Management FEMA - IS100, IS200, IS300, IS400, IS700 & IS800

  • The role will require travel to other campuses as needed and is fully on-site with no remote work option. The successful candidate will be comfortable working in an active, hands-on environment and contributing to a culture of safety, compliance, and continuous improvement across the college.
