Job description

Role Summary

The Vertical Construction Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for commercial and/or residential vertical construction projects. This role analyzes project plans, specifications, and other documentation to determine labor, material, and overall project costs while identifying risks and opportunities to ensure successful project execution.

Core Responsibilities
  • Review architectural drawings, specifications, and bid documents to understand project scope and requirements
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates for vertical construction projects, including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs
  • Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier bids for accuracy and competitiveness
  • Perform quantity take-offs and pricing for all construction divisions
  • Develop bid proposals and assist in preparing final bid packages
  • Identify potential project risks, cost-saving opportunities, and value engineering options
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and architects during preconstruction and bidding phases
  • Maintain and update cost databases, historical data, and estimating systems
  • Attend pre-bid meetings, site visits, and client meetings as needed
  • Ensure estimates align with project schedules and timelines
  • Support contract negotiations and clarify scope inclusions/exclusions
