Job description

We're currently seeking an Architectural Program Manager to join our Headquarters team!
The Architectural Program Manager supports Mister Car Wash's national development program and cross-functional stakeholders by overseeing the coordination and execution of complex architectural initiatives, prototype updates, and maintaining internal technical drawings. This role works closely with external design consultants, contractors, and internal operations and development partners to maintain the accuracy, clarity, and consistency of architectural and building systems design.
What You Will Do:
Prototype Design & Change Coordination:
  • Collaborate with internal team members and stakeholders to identify and evaluate prototypical changes to buildings, systems, and equipment (architectural, structural, MEP).
  • Research alternative materials and construction methods to improve cost efficiency.
  • Assess proposed design changes for cost feasibility, constructability, value engineering opportunities, and alignment with the Mister Car Wash brand and technical standards.
  • Document all approved prototype updates and coordinate changes with design consultants, equipment vendors, contractors, and other stakeholders.
  • Track prototypical updates throughout the development pipeline, ensuring visibility and accuracy across all projects.
  • Report on value engineering options and associated metrics, including cost savings, schedule impacts, design implications, and material availability.
  • Maintain organized digital filing system for all project documents and revisions.
  • Oversee version control and distribution of current drawing packages to internal teams and external partners.

Technical Drawing & Documentation Management:
  • Maintain and update all internal architectural and technical drawings for accuracy, compliance, and consistency with prototype standards.
  • Develop and maintain architectural standards manual.
  • Coordinate integration of vendor equipment requirements and changes into prototype drawings.
  • Communicate changes to internal design standards with consultants, internal teams, and relevant stakeholders.
  • Ensure that all documentation meets internal drafting standards and reflects the latest building system and equipment requirements.

Cross-Functional Coordination:
  • Work with development team members and design consultants to ensure compliance with local zoning regulations, municipal design guidelines, and permitting requirements.
  • Participate in regular prototype reviews with internal teams to identify opportunities for improved constructability, cost efficiency, and operational performance.
  • Coordinate prototype updates to documents based on lessons learned from field execution.
  • Partner with construction team and partners to identify recurring pain points and propose design refinements.
  • Communicate design intent clearly and concisely-both graphically and verbally-to internal and external partners.
  • Develop training and educational material/presentations for internal teams as it relates to prototypical standards, intent, and recent updates.
  • Conduct periodic site visits to validate prototype implementation.

Project Support:
  • Support Store Development, Operations, and external design teams during project design, permitting, and construction phases.
  • Serve as liaison between internal stakeholders and Architects, Engineers, specialty consultants, and equipment vendors.
  • Provide architectural and technical support as needed to facilitate smooth project execution.
  • Serve as internal subject matter expert for architectural and technical design and documentation.

How You Will Shine:
Education:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Architecture or equivalent experience.

Experience:
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a related field (e.g., commercial architectural design, commercial construction, etc.).

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
  • Demonstrated expertise in AutoCAD.
  • Working knowledge of Revit/BIM.
  • Comprehensive understanding of construction documents, building codes, ADA requirements, and structural, mechanical, plumbing, and electrical systems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, time management, and interpersonal skills, with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Highly organized, capable of managing multiple priorities and competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong work ethic and ability to operate with a sense of urgency to achieve key objectives.
  • Willingness to travel as needed.
