Job description

SUMMARY:

The Construction Laborer supports construction projects by performing a variety of manual tasks to ensure job sites are safe, clean, and efficient. This role is essential to assisting skilled tradespeople and keeping projects on schedule.

Skilled Job Functions:

  • Follow directions provided by foreman as to daily construction-related tasks;
  • Utilize tools and equipment necessary to each job assignment;
  • Observe company policies and safe work practice guidelines, including, but not limited to those required by OSHA.
  • Clean and prepare construction sites to eliminate possible hazardous materials.
  • Load, unload and identify building materials, machinery, and tools and distribute them to the appropriate locations, according to project plans and specifications.
  • Mop, brush, and spread paints, cleaning solutions, or other compounds over surfaces to clean them or to provide protection.
  • Clean and maintain tools and other equipment.
  • Duties include sitting, standing, bending, reaching, walking during 8 hour shift; sometimes in extreme weather conditions.

Education & Skills:

  • High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) is preferred
  • Previous related experience in the construction field
  • Knowledge of materials methods and tools involved in construction
  • Ability to read, write and do basic mathematical calculations
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing;
  • Ability to use tools and equipment properly and safely;
  • Able to stand, walk, use hands and fingers to manipulate objects or controls, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl talk and hear.
  • Vision abilities (with correction) including close, distance, peripheral, depth and the ability to adjust focus;
  • Able to work in all weather conditions;
  • The employee will frequently be required to walk, stand, sit, bend, climb, reach and use hands.
  • The employee will occasionally be required crawl, kneel and lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.

Other Requirements:

  • Utilization of personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated operations and production areas as required by OSHA. PPE required may include, but not be limited to, face shield, hard-toe safety shoes and coveralls.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older;
  • Must pass pre-employment screening
  • Minimum current OSHA 40-hour certification
  • Minimum current 4-hour supported scaffold user certification
