SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
The Laborer 3 - Yard Boss is a General Construction Laborer 3 with additional lead responsibilities who will be responsible for maintaining a clean, accessible, and well-organized exterior jobsite with a heavy emphasis on operating equipment to meet those objectives. This position will report to the General Construction superintendent and provide support throughout a construction project which includes general trades responsibilities. This person understands the general construction trade, power tools and safety procedures.
The GC Laborer 3 oversees leading the crews in a professional manner and ensuring safety on job sites. A General Construction laborer needs to have the ability to be flexible as this position may perform various functions throughout a shift. Jostin requires all employees to work collaboratively as a team with not only other Jostin employees but also our trade partners.
In addition to having the skillset to meet the job requirements of a Laborer 3, the Laborer 3 - Yard Boss will have additional responsibilities including:
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Lead crews in a professional manner and maintain safety procedures
  • Proficient in reading drawings and records
  • Material Handling- Handle materials in a safe manner
  • Ability to be flexible and perform various tasks during work shift
  • Ability to safely operate power tools
  • Assist carpenters with various tasks
  • Participate in weekly toolbox talks
  • Heavy demo experience
  • Prepare equipment for use
  • Understanding of budget and productivity requirements
  • Receive Deliveries and account for delivered items
  • Ability to conduct training and mentor to help others upskill
  • Opening and closing site entrance gates daily
  • Scheduling and coordinating deliveries and on-site parking
  • Operating a lull for deliveries and trash removal
  • Operating a skid steer to remove debris and sweep streets
  • Moving miscellaneous equipment such as lifts and excavators
  • Ensuring safety barriers are maintained around open excavations and overhead hazards
  • Addressing any other safety concerns around the exterior jobsite

POSITION REQUIREMENTS/EXPERIENCE:
  • Meet the classification requirements of a laborer 1 and 2
  • Minimum of 10 years of construction experience
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a rough terrain forklift operator
  • Demonstrated experience operating skid steer and industrial forklift
  • Proven ability to safely and efficiently unload trucks using skid steers, rough terrain forklifts, and industrial forklifts
  • Valid driver's license
  • OSHA 10 Certification
  • Ability to successfully pass a drug screening
  • The ability to work irregular hours including weekends when necessary
  • The ability to work in harsh weather conditions for long periods of time
  • The ability to exert oneself physically over long periods of time without getting winded or out of breath
  • The ability to use abdominal and lower back muscles to support part of the body repeatedly or continuously over time without giving out or fatiguing
  • Willingness to commute within a 125-mile radius of Cincinnati
