Position summary:ย JMT is looking for a Construction Engineering Inspector to assist engineers with the completion of Water/Wastewater and Utility construction projects in Fort Pierce, FL.

Immigration sponsorship or support (e.g. H1B, F-1 CPT/OPT/STEM OPT) is not available for this position, except for qualified candidates eligible for the TN visa classification.

Essential functions and responsibilities

  • Conduct regular inspections of water/wastewater, stormwater, utilities and related facilities construction projects to verify compliance with approved plans and codes - to include water and sewer utilities
  • Conduct regular inspections of roadway infrastructure including earthwork, asphalt, concrete, drainage, flatwork, etc. to verify compliance with approved plans and contract documents
  • Provide field engineering, construction management and contract support services (submittal review, contract document interpretation, requests for information, correspondence, change requests and change orders) as needed on site and in office
  • Ensure that construction workmanship and materials adhere to established industry standards and meet project specifications
  • Accurately document all construction inspection activities by creating daily reports and maintaining organized, detailed, and up to date field files
  • Oversee and coordinate material testing activities to ensure materials used meet project specifications
  • Conduct field measurements to establish quantities for pay item documentation as well as other contract administration documentation
  • Participate in close out activities, including preparation of punch lists and final inspection reports
  • Communicate effectively and collaboratively with clients, contractors, sub-contractors, and project teams including other disciplines, such as cost estimators, designers, and other engineers
  • Work on behalf of the Client to draft project correspondence, facilitate project meetings, and resolve construction related field issues
  • Operate and have the ability to upload, download and manage files in a Project Management Information System, PMIS, i.e. Procore, eBuilder etc.
  • Provide input and participate in client, contractor and staff progress meetings.
  • Gathers and maintains record documents
  • Makes field notes and computations
  • Interact with the general public, government agencies, contractors, sub-contractors, and other internal and external parties to respond to inquiries
