Job description

Job Objective:
Harvest Midstream Company offers field and office internships to students based upon previous experience and current course work. Field interns will be based in field offices located in either Texas, Louisiana, New Mexico, or Alaska and office interns will work in our corporate office in Houston.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Field internships are offered to students taking freshman and sophomore level classes.Field interns will be exposed to daily field operationswhich includes daily pipeline maintenance, Pipeline and facility construction, Pipeline Operations, Plant Maintenance and Plant Operations. The intern will have an opportunity to also participate in a major plant turnaround or similar large scale project. Interns will be exposed to the same operations but will also work on and present an engineering project for the second half of the summer. Projects may range from optimizing facilities to optimizing pipeline pressure profiles, which may include compressor or pump optimization. At the completion of the internship, students will have a better understanding of midstream fluid types, processing, and handling, the importance of volumes and pressures, and the path in which hydrocarbons move from production facilities to sales. This understanding will yield a distinct advantage in their Engineering classes.
  • Junior level students and above will be eligible for an office internship working with one of our asset teams. Office interns conduct studies that will include Field Pressure optimizing for accommodating new volumes from producers on the system. This will include pipeline modeling, compressor optimization and facility modifications required to meet contractual obligations. Additional studies and modeling for new plant projects and optimization of existing plants may also be available for interns to conduct. The internship will include presentations throughout the summer to management for project approvals as needed. Past intern projects have included corrosion modeling, pipeline inline inspection, compressor optimization studies, Pipeline installation projects, Pump sizing and pipeline maintenance projects. Interns then oversee the approved project in the field if possible and time permits.
  • Communicate effectively within the team, and exercise creative thinking skills. Managers will help assist the intern's leadership development to better prepare executive summaries at the completion of the internship. Harvest will provide interns with professional development, operations experience, and executive exposure.
