JOB SUMMARY:
The Design Manager is responsible for design management for the company with a primary focus on mitigation of design risk.
SALARY RANGE: $160,000 - $195,000 annually (companywide)

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Lead and oversee design phase management efforts.
  • Oversee design services (from pursuits and initial design through completion of construction (or as needed)) to ensure appropriate delivery of services and mitigate design risk.
  • Participate in design phase meetings as needed.
  • Interface with the design team as needed.
  • Oversee design document reviews for completeness and conformance with project requirements.
  • Lead continuous cost/scope/schedule reconciliation processes.
  • Oversee the identification, engagement, and coordination of peer reviews for special systems where determined to be necessary.
  • Oversee the coordination of design-assist, design-build, self-perform, and trade subcontractor participation with the design and build team to ensure timely input and preparation of trade documents, as necessary.
  • Oversee the coordination of design with preparation of bid packages to support schedule and construction.
  • Oversee contractual compliance reviews that shall identify deviations and assist in obtaining necessary approvals.
  • Local and cross-regional travel may be required.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned in support of business needs and the essential functions of the role.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Minimum four-year bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or related field of study.
  • Licensed Architect or Engineer preferred.
  • LEED Accredited Professional (AP) preferred.
  • 10-15 years of experience in design and construction.
    • Minimum 10 years of extensive experience working in all phases of design.
  • Minimum 5 years of design phase management experience.
  • Experience with Design/Build delivery required.
    • Knowledge of Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) desired.
  • Proficient in CADD, Revit, SketchUp, Microsoft Office Suite, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Project.
