Job description

About Company:

Kundlas Consulting Group LLC is a professional consulting firm specializing in construction inspection and compliance services for public infrastructure projects. Our core services include on-site inspection of roadway, bridge, and utility construction to ensure adherence to engineering specifications, safety standards, and contract requirements. We support clients with daily reporting, materials testing coordination, schedule tracking, and quality assurance oversight. Additional services include project management, grants management for federally funded infrastructure and disaster recovery programs.

About the Role:

The AutoCAD/CADD Drafter will support the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) READI contract by leading Computer-Aided Design and Drafting (CADD) production activities in accordance with USACE drafting standards, design criteria, and project requirements. This role provides technical drafting support for emergency response, disaster recovery, infrastructure restoration, facility rehabilitation, and resiliency projects by producing accurate engineering and architectural drawings that support planning, design, construction, and recovery operations.

The AutoCAD/CADD Drafter will work closely with architects, engineers, planners, environmental professionals, and project managers to develop and maintain technical drawings, plans, details, and supporting documentation. The position requires a strong understanding of federal drafting standards, drawing management procedures, and multidisciplinary project coordination to ensure the delivery of high-quality design products.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Advanced experience using AutoCAD and CADD software in architectural, engineering, construction, or infrastructure-related projects.
  • Demonstrated experience preparing and revising technical drawings, plans, details, and construction documents.
  • Strong understanding of engineering and architectural drafting standards, symbols, conventions, and document control procedures.
  • Ability to interpret technical specifications, design calculations, sketches, and verbal instructions from engineering and design professionals.
  • Experience maintaining drawing files, revision histories, and electronic document management systems.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a technical drafting program, associate degree, or related technical training preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience supporting USACE, FEMA, DoD, DOT, GSA, or other federal design and construction programs.
  • Proficiency in additional design and modeling software such as MicroStation, Revit, Civil 3D, ArcGIS, or other Building Information Modeling (BIM) applications.
  • Familiarity with USACE CADD standards, Engineering Manuals, and federal design criteria.
  • Knowledge of building systems, infrastructure design, construction methods, and engineering disciplines.
  • Experience supporting Design-Build and Design-Bid-Build projects.
  • Experience supporting emergency response, infrastructure recovery, or facility restoration programs.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead CADD production activities in accordance with USACE standards and project-specific requirements.
  • Prepare and revise engineering, architectural, civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, environmental, and site design drawings using AutoCAD and other approved CADD software.
  • Develop plans, profiles, sections, details, layouts, and technical graphics supporting emergency response and recovery projects.
  • Coordinate with architects, engineers, project managers, and technical staff to incorporate design revisions and ensure drawing accuracy.
  • Review drawings for completeness, consistency, compliance, and adherence to drafting standards.
  • Maintain drawing files, revision logs, electronic document records, and configuration management procedures.
  • Support the preparation of Design-Build packages, construction documents, technical reports, and project deliverables.
  • Assist in converting field data, sketches, markups, and engineering concepts into accurate technical drawings.
  • Participate in quality control reviews and implement corrections identified during technical reviews.
  • Support project teams during emergency response, disaster recovery, and infrastructure restoration activities as required.

Skills:

The ideal candidate must possess advanced AutoCAD and CADD drafting expertise to support the preparation of engineering and architectural drawings for emergency response and recovery projects. A strong understanding of drafting standards, technical documentation practices, drawing conventions, and document management procedures is essential for producing accurate and compliant deliverables. The candidate should demonstrate the ability to interpret engineering calculations, design concepts, specifications, and field information and translate them into clear technical drawings. Experience with multidisciplinary projects involving civil, structural, architectural, mechanical, electrical, and environmental disciplines is highly desirable. Proficiency in additional software such as MicroStation, Revit, Civil 3D, or GIS applications enhances the ability to support complex federal infrastructure projects. Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and quality control awareness are critical for maintaining drawing accuracy and consistency. Excellent communication and collaboration skills are necessary for coordinating with engineers, architects, project managers, and government stakeholders. The ability to work effectively under demanding schedules and support emergency response and recovery operations is essential for successful performance under the USACE READI contract.
