Position Summary:

The Assistant Controller supports the Controller in managing the daily accounting operations of a construction-focused organization. This role ensures accurate financial reporting, maintains strong internal controls, and oversees accounting processes specific to the construction industry, including job costing, WIP schedules, and revenue recognition. The ideal candidate is a hands-on accounting professional with strong technical expertise and experience working in a project-based or construction environment.
Responsibilities:
  • Financial Operations & Reporting
  • Assist in overseeing the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes.
  • Prepare and review financial statements, supporting schedules, and management reports.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and company accounting policies.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
  • Assist with cash flow forecasting and management.
  • Construction Accounting & Job Costing
  • Manage and review job cost accounting, ensuring accurate allocation of labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor expenses.
  • Maintain and prepare Work-in-Progress (WIP) schedules and revenue recognition using percentage-of-completion methods.
  • Monitor project profitability and provide insights to leadership.
  • Collaborate with project managers to ensure accurate project financial tracking.
  • Accounts Payable, Receivable & Payroll Oversight
  • Oversee AP/AR processes, subcontractor billing, and collections.
  • Ensure proper lien waiver tracking and subcontractor compliance.
  • Assist with payroll accounting and job cost allocations.
  • Compliance & Internal Controls
  • Support annual audits, tax preparation, and regulatory reporting.
  • Maintain and improve internal controls and accounting procedures.
