Retail Accounts Specialist

Fencing Supply Group | Atlanta, GA (On site preferred; remote considered for the right candidate)


About Fencing Supply Group

Fencing Supply Group (FSG) is a national distributor of fence and building products, backed by The Sterling Group. We're headquartered in Atlanta and serve professional contractors, home centers, and end-users through branches and DCs across the country.


The Role

The Retail Accounts Specialist runs the day-to-day execution behind our biggest retail accounts, primarily Home Depot and Lowe's. You'll own a defined book of work. That means chasing down pricing discrepancies, fighting chargebacks, running consignment invoicing, processing returns, setting up new items and stores in the retailer portals, and keeping orders moving when something breaks in the system.


This isn't a customer service rep job. It takes real analytical chops, system fluency, and the judgment to figure out why something is going wrong instead of just routing the ticket. It's also not a strategy job. Pricing decisions and account-level deals sit with the Retail Accounts Directors. The Specialist is the person who makes all of that actually work in the system, day in and day out.


Who You'll Work With

You'll report to the Director of Retail Accounts and work daily with the Retail Sales Representatives, AR, Operations, IT/EDI, and your counterparts at Home Depot and Lowe's.


What You'll Do


Orders and pricing

  • Pricing discrepancies: track down unit-cost mismatches between the PO, our system, and the contract. Flag patterns to Pricing Team when you spot them.
  • Late and dropped POs: watch the EDI flow, catch orders that didn't make it through, and get them fulfilled.

Item and store setup

  • New SKU setup: load new items into the Home Depot and Lowe's portals and into our ERP. Make sure costs, specs, dimensions, and packaging data are accurate before launch.
  • New store and item rollouts: set up new stores and items in both retailer systems. Coordinate with merchants, internal Ops, and the DCs to make sure first orders go out clean.
  • Item data integrity: keep our SKU catalog accurate in SupplierHub, Vendor Gateway, Partners Online, and Lowe's IDM. Update costs, specs, and content when they change.

Deductions, fines, and allowances

  • Chargebacks: prevent, dispute, and minimize vendor compliance fines. Build the documentation needed to win disputes.
  • Routing guide compliance: stay current on Home Depot and Lowe's routing guides as they change. Partner with Ops to make sure ASN timing, labeling, carrier selection, and appointment scheduling meet requirements before product ships.
  • OTIF performance: monitor the On-Time, In-Full scorecard for both retailers. Report on trends, identify the root causes behind misses, and work with Ops and planning on the fixes.
  • Allowances: code program allowances, MDF, and promotional fees to the right GL accounts. Reconcile against contract terms.
  • Returns and credits: process returns, validate credit requests, and issue credits within policy.

Consignment invoicing and replenishment

  • Consignment invoicing: run the weekly and monthly billing cycles, reconcile sell-through, and hand off cleanly to AR.
  • Consignment replenishment: watch DC-level inventory, flag stockout risk, and coordinate with Manufacturing/Supply Chain.

Reporting

  • Weekly and monthly reporting: pull and maintain reports on chargeback aging, deduction trends, dispute win rates, OTIF performance, and consignment reconciliation.
  • Trend analysis: surface the patterns behind recurring issues so the Director and Sales Representatives can act on them.

Customer issues

  • Home center support: be the person at FSG who answers when Home Depot or Lowe's has a question on an order, invoice, price, or return.
  • Escalation: pull in Sales, Ops, or AR when something needs deeper help, and stay on it until it's closed.
  • Pattern spotting: you'll usually be the first to see a recurring issue. Surface it to the Director so we can fix the root cause.

Backup coverage

  • Peak and PTO coverage: provide backup support on SOS quotes and direct order entry during peak periods or when the responsible teammate is out.

Requirements


First-Year Milestones


Months 1 to 3: ramped on FSG systems, EDI flow, and the Home Depot and Lowe's portals. Handling routine pricing and order issues on your own.

Months 4 to 6: running consignment invoicing end-to-end. Dispute backlog and time-to-resolution coming down. Owning new SKU and store setup.

Months 7 to 12: calling out the root causes behind recurring fines and deductions, and working with Ops or Sales on the fixes. You're the team's go-to on at least one major workstream.]



What We're Looking For

  • 3+ years in account coordination, sales ops, customer account management, or AR/deductions, ideally in B2B distribution or manufacturing. We're flexible on years if the rest of the resume fits.
  • Solid Excel: VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, pivots, SUMIFS, and the ability to reconcile data across files.
  • ERP experience (SAP, NetSuite, Oracle, Epicor, or similar).
  • Hands-on with Home Depot and/or Lowe's vendor portals (SupplierHub, Vendor Gateway, Partners Online, IDM, etc.).
  • Working knowledge of EDI (850, 855, 856, 810, 812) and how it drives order and invoice flow.
  • Clear, professional written and verbal communication. The kind that holds the line with a merchant or store without burning the relationship.
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred. Equivalent experience works.


Nice to Have

  • Fence, building products, or hardlines distribution background.
  • Deductions management, vendor compliance programs, or allowance accounting (GL coding).
  • Consignment or VMI program experience.
  • New item setup experience in retailer item-data systems.
  • Familiarity with retailer routing guides and OTIF scorecards.
  • Time spent at a PE-backed or high-growth company.
