Job description

Position Overview:

Planner will be responsible for the daily development of an issue plan to support the production plan of firearms at Smith & Wesson. Responsible for ensuring released production plans can be fulfilled based upon on hand component levels. The job will require frequent interaction with Procurement, Cell Coordinators and Team Leaders in various departments to ensure the production plan is feasible and to adjust the plan as a result of unexpected changes in component supply. Planner will work closely with the Inventory Control team to ensure inventory accuracy.

In-office/non-remote in Maryville, TN

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Essential duties include the following - other duties may be assigned:

  • Responsible for acting on order releases action and exception messages from the system.
  • Plans and manages production schedules to meet customer delivery requirements and best utilize the company's productive capacity while keeping inventory levels to the minimum required.
  • Responsible for the management of inventory levels, schedules and availability of selected item, either manufactured or purchased, to meet production schedules.
  • Release Planned Orders for production material and floor stock items to support the business unit.
  • Interface with Engineering, manufacturing personnel, the Purchasing Department and Supervisors on material status and production planning issues.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience, Competencies and Education

  • Bachelor's degree required OR 3 years of experience in manufacturing or planning
  • Strong analytical skills, strong judgment and problem analysis techniques
  • Must be collaborative, able to foster an environment of open communication and team work
  • Organized and capable of planning and carrying out multiple related activities
  • APICS certification a plus

Language Skills

  • Must have strong command of the English language, both verbal and written communications

Computer Skills

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications
  • SAP knowledge a plus

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

  • Non-applicable

TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:

  • Complete all necessary training as required by assigned department and position
  • Participate in and follow all company initiatives
  • Participate in continuous improvement projects (Kaizen events, 5S, etc)

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Must be able to stand, sit, stoop, squat and walk
  • Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds
