We're looking for a highly skilled, hands-on Extrusion Development Technician to join our R&D team and work directly with engineers to transform ideas into prototypes, processes, and commercial products. This is not a traditional production role. You'll be at the front end of innovation, operating extrusion equipment, solving technical challenges, developing new processes, and helping bring advanced medical products to market.
What You'll Do
  • Set up, start up, operate, optimize, troubleshoot, and shut down extrusion equipment for development and prototype builds.
  • Produce prototype tubing and components for new product development programs.
  • Select tooling, materials, and process parameters to achieve product requirements.
  • Partner closely with R&D engineers to conduct trials, process investigations, and technology development.
  • Analyze results, recommend improvements, and support process scale-up and commercialization.
  • Serve as a technical resource and mentor for extrusion best practices.

Job Requirements
  • Medical tubing extrusion
  • Extrusion startup, shutdown, and troubleshooting
  • Tooling selection and process optimization
  • Prototype manufacturing and process development
  • Thermoplastic materials and extrusion fundamentals
  • Dimensional inspection and metrology
  • Data collection, root cause analysis, and problem solving
  • Cross-functional collaboration
  • Continuous improvement and technical leadership

What your background should look like
• 5+ years of hands-on extrusion experience, preferably in medical devices or another regulated industry.
• Demonstrated expertise independently running extrusion equipment, including setup, startup, troubleshooting, process adjustment, and shutdown.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to select and adjust tooling to meet product requirements.
• Self-driven, highly motivated, and comfortable working with minimal supervision.
• Strong problem-solving mindset with the ability to identify issues, recommend practical solutions, and keep development work moving.
• Interest in building, testing, learning, and developing new technologies in a collaborative R&D environment.
Ideal Candidate
A self-starter who can walk up to an extruder, select the right tooling, make good product, troubleshoot issues, and help engineers move new products from concept to commercialization.
