Job description

Connectivity Point is currently seeking a fulltime Deployment Technician to support our Maine area of operations.
The Deployment Technician is responsible for the overnight installation, deployment, maintenance, and support of point-of-sale (POS) systems, registers, and low-voltage cabling infrastructure at Hannaford grocery store locations. This role primarily supports night-shift deployments to minimize disruption to store operations and requires strong technical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently or as part of a coordinated deployment team. The technician ensures all systems are installed, tested, and operational by store opening.
Work Schedule
  • Night shift, typically 9:00 PM - 7:00 AM
  • Weeknight schedules with occasional weekends based on project requirements
  • Regional travel required; overnight travel may be necessary

Key Responsibilities
POS & Register Deployment
  • Install, replace, and upgrade POS systems, registers, scanners, pin pads, receipt printers, and related peripherals.
  • Perform equipment swaps, refreshes, and decommissioning per deployment standards.
  • Test POS hardware and connectivity to ensure full functionality prior to store opening.
  • Coordinate with remote IT teams for system validation and troubleshooting.

Cabling & Infrastructure
  • Install, terminate, test, and label low-voltage cabling including Cat5e/Cat6 and related components.
  • Run cable lines above ceilings, through walls, and within cable pathways while adhering to site and safety standards.
  • Install jacks, patch panels, faceplates, and racks as required.
  • Perform basic troubleshooting of network and connectivity issues.

Deployment & Site Coordination
  • Follow detailed deployment plans, scope of work, and site-specific documentation.
  • Communicate effectively with project managers, lead technicians, and store management.
  • Document completed work, test results, and any issues encountered during deployment.
  • Maintain accurate inventory and handle company-issued tools and equipment responsibly.

Quality, Safety & Compliance
  • Ensure all work meets company standards, manufacturer specifications, and industry best practices.
  • Adhere to all safety requirements, including ladder use and working above ceilings.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area during and after deployment.

Required Qualifications
  • 2+ years of experience installing or supporting POS systems, retail technology, or low-voltage cabling.
  • Working knowledge of POS hardware, registers, and peripheral devices.
  • Experience pulling and terminating structured cabling (Cat5e/Cat6).
  • Ability to read and follow deployment documentation and floor plans.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Comfortable working overnight shifts in active retail environments.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in grocery or big-box retail environments.
  • Familiarity with Hannaford store standards or similar enterprise retail deployments.
  • Low-voltage or telecommunications certifications (BICSI, ETA, or equivalent).
  • Experience with network testing tools and cable certification equipment.

Physical & Travel Requirements
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to climb ladders, work above ceilings, and stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to travel regionally and stay overnight as required.

Work Environment
This role is performed primarily in retail grocery store environments during overnight hours. The technician will work around store fixtures, refrigeration equipment, and construction materials while maintaining safety and professionalism.
